i dont know if you guys have seen this video yet, but its pretty crazy. its graphic and vivid. algerian guerillas remote detonate a mine as a police car is driving by, and then open fire as the victims of the bombing try to flee. the guerillas then loot the dead and the car.

I haven't seen the vid yet, but it just sounds like your basic infantry ambush.

In some, perhaps disturbed way, I'm glad these assholes like to videotape what they do. It makes it much, much easier to train against them. That's a big reason why American soldiers have taken the bomb + ambush away from them. Every time the bad guys stayed to fight, they all got killed!
So tactics have changed from bomb + ambush to bomb + run?

How can we minimize the damage done by bomb and run, Mike? Here's an amateurish opinion...

      1. Prevention: Set up a data base of prototype explosives that the enemy has used; log the new ones and reverse engineer them to figure out how to effectively disarm them. Set up more sweeps in areas that we would patrol to clear the way and disarm.

      2. Interception: Once the data base of explosives is set up and the parts/ingredients analyzed, track the enemies logistics of key parts/ingredients required to make the explosives work. Where do they enter the country? Where are they distributed? Whose buying? Throw a wrench into the enemies supply chain. Sure they'll get more creative, but so will we.

      3. Exchange: Keep the locals engaged in dialog, while fighting the enemy. Build up public utilities and works in their cities. Work with their hearts and minds. Utilize contacts from these exchanges to find out what's going on when we're not around?

      PIE.

        4. Attack those doing the deeds without mercy
        5. Employ all of the technology - low and high tech - that we have
        6. Make every attack pivotal for the insurgents. Force them to act in a manner that requires lots of planning and resources, and then crush those attempts.
        7. Capitalize on the propaganda value of their failures. For instance, al-Qaeda's complete failure to launch even one successful attack in the US since 9-11 despite all kinds of threats and "warnings" from bin Laden. The simple truth is, the Bush administration has functionally crushed bin-Laden and al-Qaeda to a point that they could not even attack us successfully in Syria!
        In response to 2 & 3,

How do we know if someone is turning in false information or is falsely accusing another for the aggressive benefits that we promise? I can see greed being an issue in a city where people live meagerly.

        1. Is there a quick & efficienct system for qualifying intel?
        2. Is there a system for protecting those who provide information and who could provide additional information?

I would assume some of these roles could be handled jointly with the newly trained police force?

heres another ambush video from the same algerian guerillas. in this video they ambush some supply trucks and take the loot.

btw, is it just me or do their big beards make them look more intimidating? these bearded mountain men seem pretty angry, always ambushing fools on the roads n whatnot. i didnt even know algeria had such problems, goes to show how much they leave out in our news and history books. they never mentioned anything about all the slaughters that took place in algeria. wtf.

muslims killing muslims isnt anything new. they were killing eachother as early as right after muhammads death. after muhammad passed away, the muslims started warring with eachother immediately. they even killed family members of the prophet. i think this has less to do with religion though, and more to do with human nature. people have taken every religion there is and twisted it and used it to manipulate and kill other humans in the name of god. mans nature remains the same regardless of what his religion is or were he comes from.

I see. I wasn't headed in the direction of conspiracy theories, rather the possibility of refining the best intel.
