    If someone wanted to make a spy coin, why would they make it in quarter denominations since quarters probably exchange hands faster than dimes, nickels or pennies. Quarters are used more frequently in vending machines and are used for more exact change obviously above $0.25

    But even better, why not use ultra-thin film electronics and attach them to $100 bills as trackers (not sure if this kind of technology is available though, as ultra thin film electronics are somewhat a new field).

    A device to counter said coin - a money clip or coin collector that emits some kind of strong electro-magnetic field. Coins are made of soft, non-magnetic metals but the electronics in the spy device aren't.

    Lastly, how about spy food? Say a french fry with an undigestible, unobstrusive sensor in it.

    Tin foil hats, here we come...

      What else would make for a clever spy device? An insect or a small reptile?
