  • Third world - same story?

Is it me or is every third world nation the same story with different names?

    1. Lack of a strong, central government or the exact opposite: an iron-fisted, dictator.

    2. Run by tribal warlords in a nation divided by ancient blood lines or unrecognized territories or united by an iron-fisted dictator who uses extreme violence to prevent breakdown into the territories.

    3. The people hate the current political regime but have no power to create change.

    4. The people hate the current government and also hate American or Western Forces there to create the change.

    5. The new government installed by our forces, whether by election or by other means is still not fully trusted or enforced by the peoples.

    6. Lack of centralized military power or law enforcement agencies; instead, law is enforced by rebels employed by the warlord.

    7. Lack of an organized economy - lots of barter or services between individuals with the bulk of it organized by black market or organized crime.

    Thanks, Mike!

I looked at some of the geopolitical and economic influences, like the Darfur example you mentioned above - same with Afghanistan and a few others.

I like to read during downtime and am always looking for a new source or point of view about these kinds of subjects - I'll give it a look.
