Open Question: how much memory does the xbox 360 have?

i have bought a xbox 360 (i think its the core version). there is no hard drive or memory stick with it. is there any memory at all built in? if so how much. also what is the difference between the xbox 360 core and xbox 360 arcade? thanks for any help
