  • Portable monitor: HP E14 G4 vs Lenovo M14 vs ?

    Hello!
Heavy traveler, need LIGHTWEIGHT 14" monitor that can stand up to heavy travel, flights, etc (~100 travel days/year). Just need basic office work/browsing, but do need it to be bright enough to use in bright sunlit rooms. I had a Lenovo M14 that lasted for ~ 2 years that I've been very happy with - thin, very light, decent brightness and sharpness, but it died on a recent trip when the inner glass cracked at some point.

    Requirements:

Lightweight. I'll be carrying this everywhere, all the time. I'm highly mobile.
    At least 300nits
    1080 is OK
2 x USB C. Laptop only has 2 x USB C, and I often use the other one with docks, dongles, etc so I need pass-through charging on the display.
    <$300 or so

I've kinda narrowed it down to the HP E14 G4 or another Lenovo M14 (which seems to be almost identical to the Dell P1424H but it has height adjustment while the Dell doesn't).
Suggestions, feedback, experience? The HP seems to be a little bit brighter, but a few Amazon reviews (yeah, I know) mentioned it as being fragile or that it stopped working, so not sure how robust it is.

I have one, and it's a fun little device. But it's more designed for drawing, obviously, so it doesn't have perfect ergonomics for a second display.

Choosing a durable yet lightweight portable monitor is crucial for your needs. The Lenovo M14 served you well, but it's always good to explore other options. The HP E14 G4 does seem a tad brighter, but it's essential to consider durability. Given your requirements, it might be worth looking into the Lenovo M14 again since you had a positive experience with it. The added height adjustment could be a nice feature for versatility. Another option to consider is the ASUS ZenScreen, which is known for its durability and portability. It meets your brightness and connectivity requirements while staying within your budget.
