  • Door moulding coming off

    Hi all,

The lower moulding on the rear drivers door on my mums 2018 ecosport is coming off. I've pulled it back a bit and you can see few blobs of some stuff which I guess is some adhesive used at the factory.

What is the best way to fix this? Can it be glued back or should we get a bodyshop to take a look? Could a clip have broken? (I don't want to pull it away any more in case something breaks)

I have taken a look at the moulding online and it looks that there are clips that hold it on plus possibly some screws in the bottom. (I can't see any on the car because I think you probably have to take off the skirts to access)

The blobs seen on your picture are not OE. This trim has been removed by someone else, and stuck back on, not very well.

Sounds like the adhesive might not be holding up well. If it’s a rubber compression molding issue, you might need to clean both surfaces thoroughly before reapplying a strong adhesive. I had a similar problem, and using some trim tape along with an adhesive promoter made a big difference.
