I think like 4 years ago it was $20 per gallon? What the heck?

I need some exterior paint to paint a porch column and under the eaves.. needs some frugal ideas. I can't believe paint is that expensive now.

If you have a Habitat for Humanity store nearby, they remix paint and resell. It’s only very basic colors, but 1 gallon of exterior paint might be $15.

I ran into the same sticker shock and ended up learning way more about paint than I expected. I found out prep and application make a much bigger difference than just the label on the can. If you're in or around Vancouver, craftsmanssealpainting.ca did some work on my neighbor's place and the results were solid — smooth finish, no streaks, and the stuff has held up super well over two winters.
