  • Stressed out over lost email account used to make Nintendo account

Here goes my dilemma in a probably poorly described fashion…

I made my Nintendo account using a gmail email on my old Ipad which is basically dead an inaccessible.

I forgot the password on it so since I can’t use the dead device, I can’t recover it.

I now have a new Ipad and called Nintendo for support hoping to recover the old password but I spent an hour on the phone and it seems like I just made a new account as there’s a new user on the Switch.

My OG user is still there and is the only one that can play my games with all the progress I’ve made.
If that email account I used to make this Nintendo account ever gets deactivated, will I lose all my downloaded games???

My new user can play all the games I have but everything else is starting from scratch.
The support said I’d have to redownload all my games with this new account but I don’t know what he means as they’re all there from my old one.

Since I’ll likely get the Switch 2, I don’t know whether to use my OG account to buy new games or the new one(don’t have anything like NSO or credit card set up yet for this profile).

The moral of this story is that I don’t want to lose all my purchased downloaded games if the email account used to make that Nintendo account gets deactivated.

Might be dumb but all this shit us confusing to my small tech brain.

When you created gmail account, you likely had "backup email", or maybe 2FA enabled? Have you tried "forgotten password" for the original gmail account on your new device?

When I ran into this, I ended up linking a new email to my old Nintendo ID to keep things safe. On OGU, I’ve seen folks talk a lot about account security and even trade accounts with full history, so definitely worth looking into protecting your main profile before the Switch 2 arrives!
