  • TV on top of Centre channel or TV stand behind floor tv unit?

    Hey everyone,

I know it's sacrilege to have the TV sitting on top of the centre channel, but with the way we've had to reorganise the living room, the TV is off the wall now and is actually backed onto the window with blackouts, which means mounting the TV is no longer an option. In the grand scheme of things, this is only temporary, and when we eventually move, we'll have the TV back in a nicer, dedicated space. However, I really need a centre channel, and the only place to put it would be under the TV. As there's no place to mount the TV the TV has to go on top. So is there a centre channel speaker that's long enough and deep enough for a 65-inch LG C3.

Alternatively, are there stands you could recommend that might work in my space? Just to stress, this is a stopgap. I know it's less than ideal.

I could theoretically take one of the doors off the TV unit and out the speaker in there but it would be a bit low.

    Speaker budget $500

A TV stand like this will give you the space for the speaker. I have a very similar arrangement. I'll post some pictures this afternoon.

I had a similar setup when we had to shift our living room around, and the TV sat right on top of the center channel. Not ideal, but with a decent low-profile speaker (found one from Sicotas that handled the job well), it worked way better than I expected. I also propped the speaker up slightly with rubber feet to reduce vibration.
