need new electric cooktop

Our electric cooktop went out. It was a Whirlpool with all touch buttons.

Since this is a new house to us, I do not know how old the cooktop was. We have had it for 1.5 years.

I do not want an induction cooktop even though that would be neat but I do not want to buy new cook pans.

What is a good brand?
