Texturing please help

I am new to Modelbench. How do you texture the items. I can color the blocks with one color and that's about it.
I am trying to make a character, but I have no clue how to paint it or texture it. please help

To texture your models on Modelbench, you'll need to use a different programme, as it doesn't come built in with its own colouring stage (I don't know what it's called) like BlockBench does.

What helped me was thinking of each part like a tiny canvas—you can paint each face separately, not just one color for the whole block. Using iris for shaders later made the colors pop and the textures look way better. Just play around with face selection and layering colors—it clicks after a few tries, and suddenly your character doesn’t look flat anymore.
