Please educate me. My ODD is turning 8. She's apparently decided she is too old for toys and only wants make up and skin care products, and her nails done with acrylics. Specifically, she wants elf lip gloss, nail glue, Touchland hand sanitizer, and also suggested Sincerely Yours by the Youtuber Salish (but recognizes that's pretty pricy and might use up too much of the birthday budget). Besides the debate over whether makeup is appropriate for little kids at all--I strongly dislike it but don't want to make that a battle because I suspect it would have the opposite effect--are these kinds of products appropriate for kids? I'm concerned both about unsafe chemicals and damage to her nails, and also staining (but that may be inevitable--pretty sure she ruined a brand new shirt with nail polish down the front just last week). And also just unknowns because not knowing what you don't know is a dangerous place to be. I will also take other ideas for sophisticated looking products that are suitable for a kid's skin and reasonable budget.

Elf is supposedly 100% vegan and cruelty free, so the lip gloss probably should be ok in that regard. -
