  • Sunroom

Just got a quote back on a project and I have a serious case of sticker shock. We already have a 16x16ft covered deck off the second level of the back of our house. We were wanting to enclose the deck to make it a 4 season sunroom. Our quote came back at $140K. Is this a case of the contractor giving a bid that says he is not interested or does that sound reasonable? Anyone do a similar project?

Seems a little steep to me but everything is crazily-priced now. We had a 12X16 ft 4 season sunroom built 5 years ago for about $55K in a MCOL area. It wasn't an enclosure but a completely new structure.

I had a similar project and going with a proper sunroom installation made a huge difference in comfort and energy use. The contractor walked me through options for three-season and four-season setups, plus the insulation choices, which helped me stick to my budget without cutting corners. If you’re hoping to add usable space without major construction, it’s a pretty smooth route.
