Everything online is going to ramp up the marketing. EVERYTHING. And, it will be increasingly AI-driven so the focus will be even more intense and evasive. And once AI has scraped out all the net's input from humans and starts scraping its own misinformation that it now believes to be true because it found it on the net, matters will get far worse. I'm already seeing "content" on websites that reeks of being put together by AI.
There is no escape...until there is. I predict that within the next two or three years, just as there's been a "cut the cable" movement for network TV, there will be a "cut the internet" movement. People will go back to modems, and communicate directly with other modems that are known to be safe.
Maybe even landlines will stage a comeback, as companies realize that increasing landline bandwidth could provide an alternative to the internet as we know it.
