To party or not to party, that is the question.

Turning 50 in a few months, should I throw a big party or just slip into the abyss of old age another day closer to death without acknowledging this mile stone?

I threw a big beach party for my 40th, nice clubhouse on the sand, taco guy, beers, cake and ice cream, gift bags, and a badass day. What no one knew was it was actually a kids party, I invited all my friends and their families. There were damn near more kids than adults, everyone figured out what I had done after it got going. I also threw a few more 40th birthday party’s that same year for myself. Funny part was people came again and brought gifts again to the second one, the third 40th birthday party I made sure to say no gifts you dumbshits

I say party, you only turn 50 once. I like to golf, so I gathered 8 friends plus spouses, we rented two houses in the desert, and played a really nice course with 2 foursomes. Then partied at the house for the weekend. It was a blast. I will be 60 in 3 years, and will probably do a destination thing for that one.

For my 50th, I kept it low-key and did a group activity. We had a great time with company nights out at Spinners — the mini golf and darts made for an easy, fun celebration. Everyone enjoyed it, and the memories stuck better than any big party.
