I practice martial arts and tennis.I think tennis practice is beneficial to martial arts practice because it helps develop timing and distance. The right moment to strike the ball only lasts an instant and you must be positioned in the right place and at the right distance from the ball. Does any of you also practices tennis or other sports, and feels that there are benefits that carry over to martial arts practice?

tennis? No. I play tennis regularly.. (in the warm months that is)
It does have the whole mental issue....but i cant really see it applying to anything else but tennis, or perhaps other sports.
It doesn't really get you in great shape, as oposed to other things.
football mite be a better choice, or rugby.....there not perfect, but at least your up close and personal, pretty much trying to knock the guy on his ass. lol, you even have eye gauging and punching...stomping......
tennis, no. Rugby, sure...
No sport really makes you a better fighting beyond getting you in shape, strong, and angry.
Curling takes more mental strength i would say......its cold, and the hardest game iv ever tried......slipping on the ice hurts....lol.

I think soccer is pretty beneficial to martial arts training. I mean you get pretty good at throwing kicks and in europe there seems to be a riot almost every game and you gotta watch out for hooligans and what not so you have to be on your toes and you get pretty tough. I wanna go to europe and see a soccer riot. That would be sweet.
p.s. I like to play tennis.

I can see a relationship with tennis and CMA. Besides the elements that you mention there is waist movement and shuffling. Quick foot work and position is required to strike with a weapon such as a tennis racket.
It's great that you can find relations with other things that you enjoy doing.
Sincerely,
Richard
