You can try to do other type of push-ups, or press ups as you call them. One of my favorite exercises is the Plyometric Pushups. All it is basically pushing up off the floor explosively and catching some air. Try to clap i nthe middle before hitting the ground. Other variations of the push-up include:

      Narrow Grip
      Wide Grip
      Feet Elevated
      Upper Body elevated
Entire Body elevated (hands and feet resting on chairs)
      Diamond pushups
      Handstand Pushups

You can also try doing dips to strengthen your triceps.

put your hands together, touch your thumb and index finger and it creates a diamond shape between your hands. Basically, it's as narrow of a grip you can do a pushup with.

They are called Marine Pressups because they are typically done underwater.

                    Chair pushups

New to the board, have been lurking for a while, thought I would add my 2 cents here.

These form of pushups I find work the chest really well.

                    You will need 3 chairs.

1 chair to place your feet on
1 chair to place your right hand on
1 chair to place your left hand on

You can go very deep with this pushup and get a good work out on your chest.

                        chair pushups

I believe I found about that from a fitness book, to be quite honest I cannot remeber which book it was though. Ever since I started doing those I noticed a lot more development in my chest, they also seem to work the upper back really well.

ok your problem as i understand is that your not working your chest enough which would mean that you are doin a few sets of moderate to low reps(10-30). this would work your weaker muscles more than your larger onesarms more than chest. my advice is this do as many push ups as you can then when you have done all you can do more. rest in the up possition then do more. After you have done push ups until you cannot do any more even with rest(in the up position) then stop. stand up and i guarantee you will feel it in your chest. also watch what direction your elbows flair as you do them. if you hold your elbows in to your sides it puts more resistance on your tricepts and if you let your elbow flair out (parallel to your sholders) it puts more stress on your sholders and chest.
