  • how to get bigger?

    hi, im 19 but weigh only 55,
    i want to get bigger, like my body and overall body size to increase. how do i do dat?
    any suggestions

            so you weight 121 pounds and 5 feet. Thats not too bad, but for a second when u said 55 I thought you were sick. Maybe anorexic or something. Just eat MASSIVE! Eat a lot of carbs. Skinny people need more carbs than fat people.

                and eat bare protein.

                  be careful with the protein though. Its great for muscles and bad for kidneys so don't go thinking that Dr. Atkins is a god. I would pay more attention to your calorie intake than your protein intake.

                    Protein having a bad effect on the kidneys has only been shown to be true in the case where an individual has weak kidneys to begin with. Don't believe the hype.

                    Also, don't go thinking that Dr. Atkins is a god. Eat alot and eat healthy. Exercise hard too.

                      Extra protein is hard on anyone's kidneys. Only the one's with a predisposition (weak kidney's) have a serious risk from it though. Drink lots of water, like a gallon a day and its no problem at all.

                        do strength training more than cardio, and keep a healthy diet. however, if you become muscle bound, you will lose certain fightig benefits such as speed and flexibility. i just bought a heavy bag, and do 1500+ punches a day. that helps speed alot also. it seems to work.

                          also if you read magazines and stuff don't follow the crap advice from bodybuilders. They are nothing but genetic freaks and steroid heads. Go with the advice from powerlifters. Those dudes are huge and strong and much better athletes than bodybuilders. I think its best to combine both worlds of cardio and strentgh training. Ever see the legs on a sprinter? hell yeah those dudes got some quads on them. Do sprints so you get plenty of cardio and strength.

                            Expanding on what adacas said, compare the bodies of a marathoner and a sprinter. Distance running breaks down muscle because of the body's desire to conserve energy for the long haul. Muscle requires a great deal of energy. Sprint intervals on the other hand cause a release in growth hormone because of the difference in energy demands. You never see a small sprinter (well, I can't think of any at least). Try finding something (should be something on this forum) about High Intensity Interval Training.
