[QUOTE=Tom Yum]Infinite Light, you sound like a walking pharmacy.

If certain drugs were meant to be taken, they'd be legal and/or approved by the FDA and the FDA scrutinizes ingestible man-made substances.

    QUOTE]

Okay, so while I agree generally about the hazards of drug use, I have to point out that just because something is illegal doesn't make it bad, and the inverse of course. There isn't any evidence at all that THC (the psycho-active in marijuana) is harmful yet the FDA is not the least bit inclined to approve it - despite considerable evidence that it is beneficial to chemotherepy patients as a pain reducer (also glaucoma etc.).

The FDA is a government agency and thus subject firstly to political considerations (like the 'war on drugs' and the campaign contributions of pharmacutical companies), then secondly to your and my best interest; only theoretically are the two things synonomous.

No prob. With all those hallucinogens in his system, he'd probably wonder outside the arena and into the bathroom of a Taco bell, then challenge his reflection to a 10 round fight. I'm sure the reflection would answer in kind.

Medicinal marajuana is legal in California. It is a controversial issue and its supposed to relieve pain and restore appetite for chemo patients.

Its not legal in its recreational use, just like pain killers (under the controlled substance) category are not legally intended for recreational use either.

I'm not making this a moral issue. Its a matter of legality, responsibility and regulation. If it were legal, I wouldn't care if anyone smoked it or not. If they're a truck driver carrying explosive gasses I would be pretty concerned or a pilot for a commercial airliner I would. We'd have issues of responsibility.

LOL I can see it now:

Challenges reflection to a fight, they both punch the mirror at the same time (mirror shatters)

Spends the next two hours wondering if he broke the mirror, or if his reflection did. Also, if the reflection broke the mirror, then did it win the fight? Also, if the reflection won the fight and he is still walking around, then does that mean he is actually the reflection in a reflection world? Is his real self thinking the same things he is? If they both think and do all the same things, then are there really two of them or are there infinite himselfs (one for every posible mirror)? Is the universe infinite copies of itself... which is kinda what Einstein suggested and.... Hey, this all fits together... it's enlightenment! Didn't he always say drugs were good for mind expansion?

Infinite (and anybody else in his situation), I used to think LSD and other drugs were enlightening as well, then I started trying to write down the 'deep thoughts' I had while tripping. Try it sometime - you'll see that all your enlightenments are very much like the stuff I just made up in the last thread (took me about 30 seconds). Then go buy a philosphy book (a real one, not a new age/hippie one) and see how sorry your enlightenment starts to look in comparision to people who actually work at thinking.

Actually, on reviewing the thread, I'm not sure Infinite does think this... so maybe I'm a wee bit off topic... (wanders off to figure out where he went wrong, rolls a jay )

"but this is a martial arts fourm. why are you rambling about drugs? for those of us who ask ourselves that question. why am i talking about drugs? well. because i wanted to get my post back to the top of the fourm, so more people would look at it thus increasing my chances of feedback. so shut up about drugs you dick. okay. im done now. my post is back on top. i have succeeded once again." me

drugs are such a controversial issue. the native americans did peyote. drugs are good. drugs are bad. the reality i was born into is correct. thats why the human race is on the brink of the biggest and most cruel war humanity has ever seen. thats why our public education system results not in happiness or health. the ever expanding amount of degenerative diseses in our so called civilized world. thats why skin cancer could be considered the worlds biggest epidemic. thats why over 75% of the atlantic ocean is dead of plankton as well as the pacific to a lesser degree since its bigger. plankton are a major source of our oxygen and the food chain. this isnt bullshit opinion cynical manipulation everybody is stupid. this is fact. check my fact. osopardo, your attacks to me are hurtful. you have not an understanding of my situation but you can compose a story of fiction, destroy the villians, rise yourself upon a pedistal at equal level with everybody else. its safe here. "all that i knew, all i believe, crumbling images, no longer comforting me, scramble to, reach higher ground, order insanity, something to comfort me" maynard keenan. i could attack your unfounded prejudice. your general ignorance. your feirce judgement. but i wont. there is no point in fighting. why would i start a war with my brother? please dont attack me. leave me alone, ive done nothing to you. lets be friends. theres enough war and negitivty in the world why are we fighting?! tomyum you have also hurt me to a less extreme extent. your post about drugs was irrelevant. and your joke about me wasnt funny! but this is all pointless. theres no need to bash each other or hurt our brothers. i would like to add that never once did i say i currently use drugs, as i have been sober for over 6 months. umm we should be nice to each other and show respect i dont know. i started a fight just joking around. this fourm is pretty lame. alot of primitive conversation. alot of disorganised bullshit. but i see alot of potential. i just wanted to bullshit around a little and have some fun. its annoying and stupid all these little wars we have. we'll push our opinions and look behind us to see if everybody else agrees. we're wrong and accomplished nothing but we can bullshit ourselves into thinking we're right. thinking we belong. i dont know. laugh a little. f u c k you. just kidding

Your ramblings are proof that you're addlepated.
Go back to the original post (request for input on training program) and subsequent response, and leave it at that.

Everything after that is your insanity.

You're doing too much at once and not allowing your muscle tissues the time to recuperate and rebuild. A good program usually trains different muscle groups on different days to allow for that to happen (e.g. Monday = upper body, Tuesday=cardio, Wednesday=lower body, Thursday=cardio, Friday= upper body, Saturday=cardio, etc...)

Medical studies have shown that testosterone blood levels are highest very early in the day (4:00 to 5:00 am). That is the best time to do strength training. Cardio is also more efficient as far as depleting fat stores in your body after you've fasted for about 8 hours (again early morning for most people).

You mention your energy levels as a determining factor of how much or how hard you train. Beware of that. While a lackluster workout is better than none, intensity is the only way you'll get noticeable results.

A good training program, done with the correct level of intensity, should only take about one hour per day. Do that early in the morning, shower, have a good, low-fat, high-protein breakfast and get a job. After work, go to martial arts classes. Many towns have YMCA or Police Athletic League or Parks and Rec programs that offer Karate, Tae Kwon Do or Boxibng classes at very reasonable rates.

Finally don't forget the importance of proper nutrition (low-fat, high-protein, lots of water) and plenty of rest (minimum 8 hours of sleep per day).

                      Good Luck!

back to the original topic. training for an hour a day and classes a few days a week is hardly optimal for somebody training to be an elite fighter. look at muay thai training. they work hard to perfect what they do. and thats what i do. i work hard at the arts because thats where my priorities are. not in a carrer or money or poessessions. the only reason i want a car is to be able to have transportation to martial arts institutions. my parents dont mind that i live in their home as they love me. i used to train for over ten hours a day. i build up to this level through hard work and disclipine. finally. i havent forgotten the importance of proper nutrition, as i eat a vegan diet and consume only natural fruit juice, soymilk, and water. ya ****.

i'm sorry to the moderators and mousel himself, the one who the fourm is named after, for polluting your space with mine and osopardos bullshit cybervengence. i hope that everybody else involved with the defend.net family understands that i wasnt trying to start fights and arguments. i wont give anymore thought or time to such a pointless cause. i must walk away defeated. so osopardo, you can have the last word. if youd like. this is all a big misunderstanding anyways. insanity

Sucks that you don't have a car and live with your parents. In this day and age I guess its better than being with a wife you don't love (extra marital affairs) or living alone. Good that you've decided to stay clean. You're just a kid, but youd be suprised how many adults in high places (no pun intended) pop the pills and do the lines as if know one else knew.

Stay clean, get a job and eat a healthy diet. The last thing you want to do is get heart problems before you get the grey hair. Watch your weight too as it can also lead to health problems later in life.

Good luck with your muay thai training!

I was watching a post-fight interview with Tito Ortiz (after his win against Elvis Sinosic) where he claimed to train 8 hours a day, seven days a week. I wondered if he was just trying to make a point about his dedication or if he really put that much time into it. Muscles and mind need down time to recuperate and grow stronger and most non-pro martial artists and athletes only do the type of routine I've described (1 hour per day strength and/or cardio with two hours MA training every other day). I would be really interested in hearing from some of this forum's participants who have competed seriously or professionally regarding their training routine.

I spend WAY too much time here...

THIS is S. Anchua's description of training at a thai boxing camp in Thailand (from another thread):

                              Thailand,

morning, 06:00 - 10 km run on the balls of your feet.after run, a little dynamic stretching, some shadow boxing in rounds then on to pad work.
Hard pads with trainer, 5-7 rounds of 7 minute rounds (extremely tiring) after the pads you move onto the bag, do 5-7 rounds on teh bag, after than grab a partner, a little soft sparring for 5-7 rounds, after that you then do usually 20-30 minutes of pure standup clinch grapple, this is pretty hard going and can last longer. After that general fitness, teep kicks 100+ each leg on the bag, kicks 200+ each leg on the heavy bag and also knees straight and side, 300+ situps, 200+ pushups, neck lifts, 100+arm curls... after all that have a little stretch down go grab some food and rest.

                              morning session over.

ok, afternoon. 16:00 - 15 minute warm up jog or 30 minutes skipping with the heavy plastic tubing rope. Sometimes we'd have jumped up and down on an old lorry tyre to develop calves and also after the jog or skip, **** this was hard on the muscles. After warm up session move onto pad session with trainer, 5-7 rounds again 7 minute rounds, now a little more intense, after the pad session onto bag, same again on the bag, then onto sparring with partner and standup grappling. general fitness as above to finish off.

every second day we'd have full power sparring sessions but only usingteh hands.

This is only an average day. There is nothing done that has nothing to do with the development of your fighting ability.

The days can change routine, the training is very very reptitive and can drive you mad at times but the skill level you will posess after 6 months will blow most experience fighters away when you return home.
