  • working out wrong???

ok I am not in martial arts right now but i intend to be again soon. I had to quit for certain reasons. But I lift weights alot. And I have been doing alot of lifting since i quit the first time from martial arts. I don't do lifting though just to tone myself.......i do it to get bulky and big.......ya know the guy thing. but anyway I am considered built by people at my school.....i don't think so but others do. I am 15 and i am 6'1" i weigh like 167 lbs. My biceps are 15 inches and I have a six pack. My waist is like 34 inches. that is basically what i can say about my shape. But my workout consists of bench press, pec deck (butterflies), over head pulldown, dips, pushups, situps, pullups, ALOT of curls (i mean alot cuz i like my biceps), jump rope, and running when i can. But my workout is pretty intense for a 15 year old. I have worked my self almost to where i pass out, and I did the one time and then i pulled my self to my air conditioner. I workout hard. But Martial Arts ya gotta be fast and you can't be too bulky or then you just aren't that good. I wanna be in the best looking shape and the best feeling shape possible. But I don't know if my work out is more of a workout of body builders. I stretch before every workout but probably not like i should if i wanna be in martial arts again. Can anyone give me some tips on how to lift and what other exersices i should be doing? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx

    Peace

    Flexibility

Rather then doing nothing between sets, stretch the muscle you were lifting with between every set.

Strech after your weight training workout.
In other words if done all in one day or session:
      -Small warm up
-Martial Arts Training (Techniques, Sparring, etc...)
      -Small break
      -weight training
      -Small Break
      -cardio work
      -Cool down
      -Stretching
Stretcing should be your last activity and you will have no problems for Martial Arts.

Van Daminator, you're pretty big for 15 (6'1" and 167). I'm allmost double your age (5'10" and 170). You'll probably bulk up to 190 by the time you're 18. If you're trying to get stronger and bigger, then keep on doing what you're doing and eat a healthy diet....drop the sodas, chips and tweenkies and eat protein bars instead.
