  • Having trouble dropping weight

    Over the last month or so, I have dropped about 10 lbs just regulary working out and eating healthier. But for some reason I cant get under my current weight, I have stepped everything up and still seem to be stuck.

    Have any of you had the same sort of problem and how did you overcome?

    You're at the "plateau" phase. Happens eventually to everybody because your body adjusts itself to your routine in order to conserve its resources. It's probably time to take a couple of days off - don't exercise and eat larger amounts of simple carbs (sugars) and fats. This will readjust your body chemistry and when you get back on program you should see a response.

    A lot of athletes use this "cycling" technique on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to keep their metabolism actively "guessing" and reacting to your activities.

      I started taking a fat burner as well. I will see how that goes, I dont really want to stop training, its the only thing I do right now that has any enjoyment. I just moved to a new city and have yet to meet anybody, I know this has nothing to do with it but you know I dont think stopping training is an option.

        I didn't say quit training, I said take a couple of days off.

        If you really MUST continue working out, try doing something completely different, something you've never done before, for example;
        if your routine is the basic strength training with weights and gym equipment, try a few days of swimming or bicycling or rowing (in a real boat on water) or hiking or even dancing (yeah, dancing!).

        Being alone in a new place can be tough but (with all due respect) you might be more likely to make a few new friends when you're not so focused on just training.
