Set minimum limits for yourself and do sets. for example 4 sets of 50 push ups. Always go to failure or near failure. If you can't finish a set break it up but maintain your goal (eg 200). Typically, I do knuckle pushup and cross my feet (so I am balanced on one foot). Also, pace yourself to gain strength.
