  • increasing striking power

    In combination with weight training, what is the best way to increase the power of my strikes.

    Plyometric training (e.g depth jumps, depth pushups, where u drop down from a height and explode upward again keeping your contact with the ground at a minimum)

    or explosive training. (e.g benchpressing or squatting,where u pause at the bottom for a few seconds then explode up as fast as u can)

    hitting the heav bag again and again is the only true way to increase striking power.

      Yeah, like everyone else said hitting the bag is a good way of steadily and slowly building your striking power.

      I think focus mitt and pad work is good too. You can work on speed with the mitts and pads.

      Bodyweight resistance - Calisthenics

      Weight training - Both heavy lifting for 5-7 reps AND light explosive lifts up to 20 reps

      Medicine Ball work

      Having the right frame of mind too. First take the time to clean up your technique and once you get it down, then explode into your targets with your entire body. Make the focus mitts and pads pop. Not just a little pop, a BANG!
