Hi Tap4Me,
You're looking to build endurance and muscular strength?
Jumping rope will increase your endurance and develop your coordination but will not greatly increase your muscular strength. It has been said that 10 minutes of skipping is approximetely the same as jogging one mile. If you want to increase endurance, skipping rope or jogging will certainly do this. If you want to increase muscular strength and explosive power through running you will have to do different types of sprinting and also include some hill running. These excercises will incorporate different muscle fibers that are used to achieve explosive power and strength.
Good luck !

I would do both, I personally love roadwork so I'm probably biased, but I used to hate running when I was in junior high, but I kept at it, and by the time I joined the Marine Corps at 17 I still kept running.. I am 31 now and love running.
