  • Supplements/Streoids

Being only fifteen and not into bodybuilding as such, i'm not completely aware of Streoids and even less aware of Supplements. Even though its never crossed my mind to take them and i won't ever take them, i was wandering how you've found your experiances with them(whether first hand or otherwise) I'm asking this just to be more learned about this. Thankyou

For energy you should eat plenty of pasta, so please eat lots of pasta before workout then within 1 hour of workout you should eat a combination of tuna fish and pasta. Also drink 2.5 litres of water a day as the muscle is made predominately of water.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE STERIODS THEY CAN CAUSE KIDNEY PROBLEMS, CANCER AND SOMETIMES DEATH

        Supplements

Other than some good protein isolate, make sure you're on a good multi-vitamin like GNC's Mega-Men. It'll make your piss really yellow though, but having all your vitamins is essential for your health, esp. for athletes.

I think you should probably read up on this stuff and getting a general idea of
the science of nutrition to begin with. When I started taking supplements, I was
about 15, and I thought a weight-gainer was some making potion that would
make me gain weight(not saying that you are making the same mistake, I wouldn't
know). I also tried creatine a year or so later, but what I really should've been doing
is to read up on nutrition and getting enough sleep to gain benefits from both my food,
training and supplements. Most dietary supplements contain nothing that can't be found in natural food alone - but the supplements makes it handier to get a lot of the
specific nutritients you're after. Like you've probably learned in school, protein is the "building blocks" of muscles and all other cells, while carbohydrates are the most efficient shorter-term fuel for our machinery(very simplified). You have different kinds of proteins, caseine for instance is used and released at a slow rate by the body while whey protein(which is in most supplements) is used and released quickly - so after you're workout whey proteins are great, but when you go to sleep "slower" proteins like caseine would be of greater benefit. You can get both by eating the proper food - or by taking the right supplement.

I'm sorry this got quite dense and perhaps not too informative. What I'm trying to say is that a supplement is merely that - a SUPPLEMENT. So if you're ever taking about supplementation - find out what kind of food you really need, and then how much. What foods are hard to get enough of? Okey, so you'll supplement those. Probably those foods will be the most "boring" supplements: multivitamin, minerals. If you're not much of a fish eater, and hate taking fish oils(tran we call it in norway, I have no idea what it's called in english) - try taking a supplement of essential fatty acids and vitamins from fish oils in a tablet variety. In hard working periods you're likely to find a protein powder handy.

And as for steroids, I'm sure you are aware of the dangers. I can't tell you anything about them, as I haven't tried them - but I can tell you that at 16-17 years old you probably has as much testosterone in your blood as a 30-year old on "fair but not hardcore" doses of steroids. A teenager is essentially "juiced up" by mother nature already. A great time to build muscle, but be careful with your joints. I know several people who used a great amount of dough on roids and never got all that big - cause they didn't get their training and nutrition right. You need to get your training right even if you're juicing. You'd see a lot of Arnolds out there if steroids really was a simple solution.

Personally, whatever I want to do in life, I try to get the basics straight to begin with. When it comes to supplementation, diet is the basics. I used to try to shortcut my way through everything from academic ambitions and business to health and training, and it got me nowhere. With two years worth of hard work, reading and training I'm relieved from epilepsy and asthma, after getting my basics straight - and now I'm finally slowly building the physique and combative abilities I always wished for - going more and more into the specifics.

I hope I haven't bored you too much with my ramblings.
            Good training to you!

Roids work, don't kid yourself. And as for safe, roids are also that, if you take them properly, and more so if you are using some of the new designer roids that are out there. They do not aromatize, so thus have none of the undesireable side effects of long term use with traditional roids.

Best way to get on roids legally is to grab a few of your girls, or mom's birth control pills, pop them the night before you go see your doc. Walk in, tell your doc that you have no energy, can't get it up. They'll do a testosterone test on you and prescribe you a teste supp. And they'll monitor you weekly! Safest way to get on roids!

Prohormones are a viable alternative, and these do work. Same thing, next generation prohormones do not have the side effects, and some of them are closer to the real hormone than roids!

If you are supplementing, start with whey protein, creatine or nitric oxide, and a good multi vitamin. that is all you will need for the first 8 mo.

                Bushidoka:
I never said roids didn't work, and saying that roads are "safe" in general is a pretty dangerous remark. Ofcourse they can be safe, but for a fifteen-year old? I don't think so. I know I'm new to this forum and that it might be seen as rude for me to criticize, but THINK A BIT before you post stuff like this.. Self even said himself that it never crossed his minds to use steroids, so why plump out with a complete recipe for getting prescription medicines in unhonest ways? I can to some extent respect people who discuss steroids within a frame of like-minded persons educating themselves on the subject, but the way you just went over your head to help out a pubertal with getting steroids is simply immoral.

Self: Whatever you do to supplement your training - health should be the main emphasis. From reading your other posts I'm sure you're the kind of person to agree with that.

                    If you take roids...

You'll be a muscle man in the gym, minute man in the bed.

Don't do em. They were obviously banned from the IOC for a reason.

Supplement if you need to, and control your diet and SLEEP.

I have a few friends who took roids - they got all ripped n huge... then they got off it. A few years later, they're psychologically instable, one friend is nicknamed "short-fuse" cuz that's what he is ... and he's FAT now with a temper.

                    Don't do em.

                      Protein

Of course if you want to gain weight, and look good. Muscle is the best way. So First of all you'll need to work out alot. Dont do the same excercises, switch them up. Your muscles can get used to doing the same routine, and will no longer grow larger. You'll need a lot of energy to build up muscle. Protien is the best source. I usually eat 1g of protein per pound of body weight everyday. There are 4 calories to each gram of protein. Also you need good protein, not just anything you can find. Your body is more capable of absorbing certain types of protein than others.

I prefer whey proteins. Generally before and after workouts I will supplement my well balanced diet with whey protien Isolate drinks. I Also drink a big glass of whole milk before bed everynight. Whole milk protiens can take up to 7 1/2 hours to digest, so it gives your body a good feed all night long.

Below is from an artical that I have saved.

When it comes to Whey Protein, you have three choices:

Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC) = is a high-quality why protein that is filtered to remove a good portion of the carbs and fat. Most products on the shelves today are about 70-80% protein.

Whey Protein Isolate (WPI) = is a purer form of why protein than concentrate, because it’s processed even further by way of ion-exchange chromatography. This process allows for a powder that is greater than 90% protein. Additionally, it’s a good choice to use when you are dieting because it has a lower carbohydrate and fat content than whey concentrate.

Whey Protein Hydrolysate (WPH) = is produced when WPC or WPI is taken through a final step know as hydrolysis. Hydrolysis breaks the bonds between amino acids, a job normally reserved for your digestive system. Without the extra workload, your system absorbs this type of protein even faster than WPI and WPC. This makes WPH a great choice for a post-workout shake.

*So WPH is one step better than WPI as it’s less taxing to your system to break it down.*

                      *********************Casein Proteins*************************

Casein protein makes up about 80% of the protein found in milk. Due to the clotting nature of casein (it forms a gel in your stomach), its digestion is slow and steady. In fact, consuming certain casein proteins can steadily deliver amino acids to muscles over a seven-hour time period. Having such a steady supply of amino acids has been show in scientific studies to prevent muscle protein breakdown, which some scientists suggests is just as important for muscle growth as enhancing muscle protein synthesis.

                      ***********************Whole Milk Proteins*******************

To form whole-milk protein products, milk is taken through a gentle filtration process to remove the lactose and fat. This leaves both the casein and whey proteins intact, as well as the many other beneficial fractions. Because of this process, whole-milk proteins provide both the benefits of whey protein and casein. Most of the emphasis is on the casein benefits, as 80% of this protein is casein. This is a good protein, especially before bedtime, to deliver steady supply of amino acids to your muscles. However this type of protein isn’t optimal before or after workouts due to it’s slow digestion.

Hey Cross trainer, how are you?
I was merely answering Selfs' question. He was asking about roids. I gave some info on roids. Did I tell him to take them? No. In retrospect, perhaps I should not have posted a method of obtaining them, but I feel that if there are people out there wanting to try them, it is more important that they try them in a safe environment, rather than having a bad experiance as some I've heard here. Remember, your chances of getting authentic roids on the street or in your local gym is almost nil. You can only buy them in mexico here in N.A, so unless your supplier is doing the mule thing, your roids are fake, cooked up in someones basement. I felt this more important.
If your roids are genuine, and you are under medical supervision, yes, you can safely do a few cycles, no problem. Should this particular person use them? No, not at this time. He is too young, I agree, but that is not an answer to his question is it?
Educate yourself on the subject instead of just expressing a biased opinion, find out what they are and how they work instead of just saying "don't do them', then you can tell him why or why not.
Roids are definatly not for most, nor are they for the casual trainer, but they are out there, and they do work.
As for being banned, so are prohormones banned in the states now, and they are talking of bans on others such as creatine. Then what, are you going to stop taking creatine?
Your point is taken though CT, I will keep what you said in mind.

                          Hi Bushidoka, I'm fine thanks.

I guess my reply to you was a bit blunt - okey you did not "tell him to take them" but at the same time your "info on roids" was imo also kind of biased and highly unskeptical in nature, and I believe skepticality is our strongest tool when it comes to "anything you stuff into your body" - from foods to drugs and medicines. Fooling a doctor to think you have naturally high estrogene levels is not the same as having safe cycles under medical supervision, as the amount he describes to you is based on an idea of a serious medical condition you actually are faking.

I see what you say, and as I said I have no disrespect for those seeking to educate themselves and eachother on the matter of steroids. I am myself educated on the subject to the extent that I find reasonable regarding just how much time I want to spend on stuff I don't intend to use, and I am always eager to learn new stuff. Ofcourse if you keep track of your kidney and liver values and use "conservative" measures of pure steroids combined with aromatase blockers and some liver tonics, you will MOST LIKELY come out safe. But some people will not - it's all a matter of their constitution. Someone reading a post like that might have a history of heart problems or liver problems in their family - well then all the anti-aromatase blockers or de latest designer ctr/androgenic won't hinder the "real" sideeffects which are much worse than just acne and gyno.

When it comes to the prohormone ban, I heard about it but I still see andro for sale on american websites - what really happened? Where I live nothing is legal, not even methoxy or all that "natural" stuff like Tribulus. Paranoid jurisdiction I live in. Personally I disregard laws and bans as a measure for he morality of things. I take my choices and the legality of an outcome is merely one small factor in the equation.

At the same time please see the fundational difference between creatine and other "dietary supplements" and roids. Steroids are synthesized hormones or hormone precursors designed to alter your metabolism and cell regenerating mechanisms by "shortcutting" straightly into your blood circuit. Creatine is a substance found in food that your digestive system is already aquinted with, and the body deals 99,9% the same way with supplemented creatine as with the small deposits of cre found in for instance red meat. So just because the gestapo is talking about banning it, you can't really match it up against any other banned substance. Thats like saying marijuana and heroin is in the same basket. It's a whole other packet, and for me a nutritional supplement most importantly resembles a different philosophical approach towards the human body than steroids. Cause to me, this is all a question of health, mentally and physically. And the kind of mentality that once upon a time made me want to try out roids, was the kind of mentality that get people killed. Even though the roids themselves maybe could have been safe.

Sorry for my bluntness in my previous post then bushidoka. I see your opinions much clearer now and I have no trouble accepting them. As you said "my point was taken" so you probably see that it was merely your formulation that I found so provocative and not your opinons as such. As for now I hope you see in this post that my own view is not "biased and uneducated," either. Two educated people can perfectly well have contradicting opinions on the same subject, as "opinion" per se is a personal matter.
