  • How about this crap? :P

I go to my college weight room to go exercise, thinking it's time to get out of my garage for a change and try it out, and they refused to let me bring in my barbell because of the duct tape around it (I have duct tape wrapped around it to make the barbell 3" around so it's a helluva lot harder to exercise with). They won't let you squat without a belt or knee wraps, were iffy about letting me set up a place to deadlift, and don't allow explosive lifts except with a certified trainer there.

Needless to say, it was good to be back in my garage again

You bring your own barbell to the weight room?

Running to the gym from home carrying the barbell over your head is half of the workout. . .

Probably had something to do with their "INSURANCE POLICY". They could get sued.

Yeah, cause I like thick-handled barbells so that way you can train your grip as well. When you can bench press 275 pounds with a 3" barbell for reps, you know you've got a decent grip It's worth trying out, your lifts will drop about 20% but once they work on back up it'll be a big difference.

I work on my grip everyday, but it usually entails some lotion and a porn mag!

You sad, sad man I'm talking about working up to a powerful grip, like John Brookfield, first guy to close the CoC #4 gripper, 365 pounds to close that baby

The snatch is just one of the movements. You're forgeting the clean and jerk (not in that particular order).

Ya, working with thick-handled barbells will fill out your shirtsleeves a lot faster. But yeah it was probably their insurance policy. In my college gym, they "strongly recommend" weight belts, but they aren't required, however, they have a sign saying "ALL OVERHEAD LIFTS AND OLYMPIC LIFTS ARE PROHIBITED IN THIS AREA."
