Hey, welcome to the forum! What most people on this forum as well as me are going to tell you, you need to do some research. Check your local listings and find all of the schools around you, and then go and try them out. Find out what you feel comfortable doing, and what you enjoy. This will make your experiance more enjoyable. As for the conditioning part, any martial art will help to condition you, sparring and such. It all depends if you enjoy doing it, cause I gaurentee you that you will get better results at the place you enjoy going to. Hope this helps!

Well, if you want something to help your boxing....
Muay Thai Kickboxing?
If you want something totally different that is a workout in a different way try Judo or JuJitsu.
Some other arts to consider are Tae Kwon Do and Karate..... those are broad terms though, so look for a good school. Make sure prices are reasonable, instructors are well qualified (I would say holding at least a 3rd degree black belt if you go the TKD/Karate route). Also, if you are interested in competing make sure the school does that.

It depends on the Jiu-Jitsu school.
Judo (Sport Jiu-Jitsu of sorts) is all throws and groundwork. To the common eye, throws are decent but not powerful for self-defense. Well, I would say.... go get thrown a few times and then give me your opinion. keep in mind, you are being thrown on a mat, not concrete.... let me know how it goes.
Some Japanese Jiu-Jitsu teaches throws and strikes.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is mostly groundwork.
