Echinacea works to prevent these problems. However, it doesn't work to cure the cold once you have it,.

I'll just tell you my opinions, though they differ according to how you feel. Certianly OTC medicines tell you what they do, I suspect you mean herbal or home remedies. My mother learned some traditional herbal remedies as a child and passed them on to me.

Echinacea is good for prevention, but should not be taken for more than 4 days at a time. Usually it is overused.

Feverfew is the only herb known to cure migrains. It does work.

Fenugreek+Thyme is a good mixture for respitory problems. The fenugreek is a mucilgion, coats your upper respitory tract. They Thyme is an expellent. Together they work very well. If you're real congested, it might make you puke out the congestion.

Yarrow, is great for breaking flues, but it can cause high fever. To take it properly you should Make a 32 ounce infusion of it. Fill a bath with Hot water, baking soda, and epson salt, and drink the yarrow infusion. You will need a wet rag handy to put on your forehead to keep from passing out. This can draw toxins out of your body so fast, that if you're real sick, you will actually be able to see them build up on you skin...no joke. wait until your temperature drops and you no longer feel light headed before standing up.

Chapparall is a deep cleanser. It contains polysaccharides and has been used to treat removal of stricnide from the spleen, treat leukemia, and tumors. Man this stuff tastes like old-time medicine too, real bitter.

Burdock, and Black-willow are both good blood cleansers.

White willow bark is the natural source of Acetaminophen. Use it accordinly.

      ------
So if you feel your coming down with something go to war.
start taking garlic cloves, and echinacea (no more than 4 days)
If you start to feel sick, cleanse yourself using yarrow, chapparall, and some blood cleanser. This will work most of the time.

If you actually get to the point of getting stuffed up, drink the fenugreek+thyme . And if you start to feel sick, mix a little white-willow with feverfew.
There's a lot more you can do, based on the situation. If you still feel bad after this, see a doctor.

Honestly, I never get sick. I haven't been sick in over 10 years. I was only sick once as a child, and I do not take any OTC or prescription medicines. I havent taken an aspirin or tylenol in probably 5 years. I do eat healthy, excercise, sleep well, and take herbal remedies only when direly needed.

Sorry for the long post. I do know a lot about herbal remedies. So if there's something in particular you want to know, I'll try to help.

one more thing that H2H brought to attention
Try to avoid major stress and find ways to best cope with it if you can’t
        avoid it
That is so true. Getting plenty of Excercise, sleep, good food, and sunlight has always seemed to help me cope better. Sometimes I'll just feel shitty because of lack of sunlight. You gotta get some fresh air and sunlight too sometimes.
