I was wondering the best way to slim down for a 17 y/o. I have tried running but i cant seem to lose any weight. I have tried watching what i eat but nothing seems to help. Ive played football ever since middle school and this year i tried hard to lose weight and get conditioned but i couldnt lose wieght. I wiegh 218 and i want to get down to a least 190 because i am a little chubby. Is it also bad to lift weights and try to slim down?? I have had weight lifting for 4 years and i have to lift everyday so do u think i should cut down some on the lifting??

Chubby?
Being 17 years old, the most important thing to consider is, have you finished growing yet. How tall are you? What is the average height for the adult males in your family? Are you just filling out ( common after growth is finished) or are you putting on extra weight because your body is getting ready to hit another growth spurt?
As far as weight training goes, lifting every day (depending on your routine) may be excessive. Your body needs adequate time to heal. When you lift, you're tearing your muscles down. Your rest period is when they rebuild, hopefully stronger and bigger than before. Listing your weekly routine would help me to give you advice.

Determination and commitment
First of all, ask yourself if you are determined to lose that extra weight.
Then ask yourself if you are willing to commit your time and effort into doing so.
There are two basic things to cut down on weight. Eat NUTRITIOUSLY and EXCERSISE.
First of all, make sure your taking in around 2000 calories per day. Lets keep this simple. Just eat LOTS of fruits and veggies. A good amount of meat is also necessary. Have some carbohydrates like rice/pasta, but not too much. Drink lots of water, but not so much fruit beverages because they contain a considerable amount of calories. Stay away from junky foods; even crackers. Also, stay away from deep fried and deserts whenever possible. Just eat whats necessary and stay away from the desired. However, you can, from time to time, have a little amount of that highly craved junky food. Thats probably it for eating nutitiously. Just make sure you eat healthy, and have enough food.
Now for excersising. Weight lifting is an excellent way to sculpt your body and get it into good shape. Also, you can lose a few pounds after a long period of time. But aside from that, you must make sure you are doing enough cardiovascular excersise (at least 45minutes 4 days a week). So continue to work out every day (remember, only two times a week on each muscle group), and cardiovascular at least 4 times a week. Spread your time evenly thorughout the week. Do not over work yourself during the first 4 days, then rest for the next three. The best cardiovascular excersise would be jogging. But if you are one of those people who hate running, try doing this:
- 200+ pushups every 2nd day. and add more when you feel its getting easy. Have breaks in between those 200, but not too long, and not too many. This counts as an endurance excersise.
- 100+ crunches every 2nd day also. more when yo ufeel its getting easy.
- then at last, and most importantly... either skip, or pretend to skip for 40 minutes.
SUMARY:
-EAT LOTS OF FRUITS/VEGGIES,
-A GOOD AMOUNT OF MEATS,
-SOME CARBS (RICE/PASTA).
-DRINK LOTS OF WATER.
-LIFT YOUR WEIGHTS
-DO YOUR CARDIO
-RUN! SKIP! EXCERSISE!
-BE COMMITED AND DETERMINED
Hope that works out for you. Good luck!
