  • Confused hardgainer

I am a small person. Although I would like to gain mass, I would also like to continue training. After all the research I've done, it looks like that if my primary goal is to gain mass, I have to cut out all activity that burns energy since my metabolism is so high. Currently, I train a 2-3 hours 5 times a week, do sprints 3 times a week, and lift weights 3 times a week. I really want to get bigger, but I also don't want to stop training and running.

Is there anything I can do to keep training while gaining mass as well? When it ultimately comes down to picking between only training or only gaining muscle though, I would have to pick training.

What's your weight lifting schedule look like?

I do 1-2 exercises for each of chest, abs, back and lower back. Basically just upper body. This is done 3 times a week.

if u want to gain mass and are a hardgainer, u must cut down on the cardio for sure. also, when ur in the gym focus more on compound lifts that use the most muscles at once. id reccomend going to the gym 3 days a week, and each time u go do compund lifts that cover ur whole body, like squats/machine squats , rows, upright rows, shoulder press, dips, bench press, lat pulldowns and anything else u can fit in. do these all in 1 workout with heavier weights and lower reps, that way u will pretty much be working ur whole body 3 times a week instead of only once, stimulating more muscle growth. in addition to lifting, u need to eat right and get plenty of rest. id say do ur cardio or running mabye only 1 once a week, or 2 times but for smaller sessions.

Emptyness has the right idea. Eat some kind of protein every 3-4 hours (drink like a big glass of milk and have some fruit/bread, stuff like that in between big meals) and get plenty of rest as well as doing basic compound lifts, ones that work all over your body. And definitely add squats, you need some kind of lower body exercise as well, otherwise you'll get chicken legs and end up looking like this:

i see so many guys at the gym with big upper bodys and sticks for legs. its pretty funny. there are guys i see at the gym who have never done a single lower body exercise the entire time they have been working out, all they do is upperbody so they can look big to intimidate others or show off to girls. alotta people neglect their legs wich is sad, because ur legs are like half ur body. when i wanna know if someone is a true athlete, i look to see if they have built legs, because built legs indicate lots of hardwork. i just see the douchebags at the gym looking like storks cause they never work their legs and i just shake my head.

              weight/muscle gain

you could always try bulking(gaining fat to help fuel workouts) or try a weight gainer such as mega mass 2000 or nlarge 2.

Most of that is pure sugar and will only add unnecessary fat. Just drink two extra glasses of milk at every meal and eat something small in between meals and you should be okay.

True but he just just said he wants to gain mass (which he can do by uping his/her calories by having more fat (to serve as a concentrated energy source)/weight gainers). He/she also said they are active so the sugar (maltodextrin) won't go to waste and even if does by carbohydrate surplus/too much it will be stored as contentated energy (fat). And another thing 741 has a fast metabolism so they need more kcals, fat, carbs etc to compensate for the faster metabolism.

Personally, if I want to add mass, I'd rather it mostly just be muscle mass and not a ton of fat with it as well, as then you have to go through a cutting phase just to get it off. If he eats a substantial amount of proteins and starches, he's going to grow. It's better off buying a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread than a $50 jar of high-sugar protein gain that will at most add a little fat to you. Mega Mass 2000 especially does not give a lot of fat, and you need fat (unsaturated, low on saturated) to increase testosterone production to induce gains.

http://www.supplement4less.com/weidnutmegma.html has the nutritional info for Mega Mass 2000. You mix two scoops with every 8oz, so that ends up being a whopping 82g of sugar per serving and its main two ingredients are maltodextrin and corn syrup, both of which aren't the best for you. Maltodextrin is actually a supplement for canines, if I remember right: http://www.howlingdogalaska.com/maltodex.html
