  • Sprains

About a month back I sprained my left ankle. I gave it time to rest and then started working it again. A few days ago I think I remember it being fine, but today I could notice it just didn't feel completely normal. Also I slightly sprained my left wrist on the heavy bag. From what I've read and heard from friends, trainers, up and coming sports docs, 2 weeks of rest. I guesse I'll just take it, but is there anything else that I can be doing to help the process/strengthen/rehab? Eastern or western medicines? Acupuncture, massage, certian foods, certian vitamins or herbs or anything?

I'm 19 years old if thats of relevence.

    How is your tendon strength?

It sounds like you might be a heavier fighter or fighting at a heavier than normal weight?

Regardless, I would suggest taking your doctor's advice.

The only time I put more weight than usual on my feet is when I hold the 3lb weights in my hands and do a little workout like that (which is also on hold because of the wrist(s?) being sprained from the heavy bag). As for weight, I am a small guy that burns food fast and has almost no bady fat. 5'10" 135lbs with water weight.

However, it's possible I overloaded from too much. I was pretty excited about everything and was doing a lot, so in that sense it was much more than the tendons were used to. After I come out of this I am going to write up a ruitine that builds up more gradually than what I did. But man, patience is hard when it comes to me getting back into martial arts (and especially Muay Thai, which I'm learning more about every day through books, videos, etc.)
