Im guessing that by staying longer you mean it wont atrophy as quickly? Then I would have to say no. But, it would help you to get more endurance, and it would probably give you some more definition in your muscles. If you want your muscles to "last long" then apparently using heavy weights causes the muscles to resist atrophy a bit better, at least thats what Franco Columbu said. However, I suggest just increasing your regular caloric intake and you shouldnt lose much muscle. In fact sometimes when I rest for a week I find that ive actually gained some muscle as my muslces have time to rebuild and regrow.

If you can't get to the Gym then the body weight exercises are what you should be doing.
A lot of people take protein supplements, or ensure that they have plenty of protein in their diet to ensure that muscle loss is minimized.
The truth is, you don't need all that extra supplement crap, all you need to do is ensure the muscle is being worked. Therefore, do carry out body-weight exercises in between gym sessions and work the muscle to collapse, that is you can't work it any longer because it's so tired.
Hope you find some of this helps

I dont agree with what nine says. If you do work the same bodyparts you worked in the gym in between workouts you could overtrain, and when you overtrain you lose muscles mass and dont make any gains. Also, protein isnt really crap, it just depends on your body type and what stage your at. If your just starting lifting then I would suggest trying to just eat lots of normal food and staying away from supplements, as you will gain on your own because your body isnt used to lifting. I suggest using protein powder after you have hit a sticking point in how big youve gotten, or if you have trouble gaining at all because you are skinny.

Like shirase says be careful of not overtraining. All I say about supplements is don't rely on them as you only source just have a good diet and you won't really need them. But protein supplements are the quickest way of getting protein into you after a workout.
