It was for a prolonged period, but i'm not sure of the exact time. It was a news story I caught a few months ago.

It's also been said that Green Tea speeds up metabolism. I wish I could find the article I read on it, but someone did a study and found that a person who drinks one cup of green tea a day tends to lose 70 calories on average as compared to the non-green tea drinker.
Last spring, in an attempt to lose a few pounds, I switched from sodas and other corn-syrup based drinks to more natural ones, like coffee and of course green tea. Between that and excersizing a bit more, I ended up losing 30lbs. I can't deny that replaceing an unnatural drink with green tea helped speed that up.
