  • vegetarian/vegan diets and training

Hello! I have been a vegetarian for 3 years and was a vegan at one point ... I stopped eating vegan because I felt I was losing strentgh.I feel though that the vegan diet increased my endurance substantially.I remember seeing (I think in Mucle & Fitness magazine) a study on how diet effected one's endurance and it said that those who ate no meat and dairy had the greatest endurance..so I tried it and found it to be true. But I think that my strentgh suffered .Well I would be interested in hearing what any vegetarians who train have to say about their experiences with their diet..or what diets the members of this forum follow .

The diet I follow is the Spartan Diet.

But I am not a vegetarian.

I recommend the SPARTAN HEALTH REGIME to any one who is a hard-core health fanatic. (availble through most BLITZ mags)

Tofu is very highly processed and is nothing combared to a Rare Red Steak nutrient wise Any body thinking of becoming a vegetarian......DONT Especially do not become a veegan!!

i suppose the resonwhy you loose strenght is tha amount of protein you eat. there is almost no proteins in salads og vegan food.

try supplementing with some nuitrition program maybe that will help your strenght.

Unless you are a strict vegetarian, no meat protien at all, you would help your strength with a meat-based protein supplement.

You will lose quite a lot of strength without protien in your diet. So as others have just said if you are a Vegetarian you will need to take supplemnts.
