Don't exercise too close to going to bed. It increases circulation and your heart rate and all that sh!t, and can make it harder to relax and go to sleep. Stretching before going to sleep is good though in order to help you relax.
Dude, get yourself some Valerian root, you canget it at any drugstore... it's a natural herb that aids you in falling asleep by slowing down your central nervous system...
I am a high strung guy as it is, and a coffee lover and sometimes I can't fall asleep, so every now and then I pop a Valerian and am drowsy and wanting to sleep in about 10-15 minutes...
VERY bad idea. You can easily become reliant on the pills and not be able to go to sleep without them. Also, though pills can make you go to sleep, they can't help you relax while you sleep so therefore your sleep is not effective and you do not recover much energy.
I try to go by the attitude that I have to earn my sleep.
I don't pull this off everyday, but when i earn my sleep I've usually done a full days work + 2 workouts and maybe 2-3 chores (dishes, trash, vacuum etc.)
While I normally sleep well, I haven't been able to get much sleep due to school stuff and friends who need help. I do my homework, then take breaks here....repeat.
I've slept about 7 hours in the past 3 days and its making me see plasma fields that appear and dissapear. I'm also a bit edgy....
Yeah, I usually do a tough workout in the pool everday around 6, that drains me for the rest of the day, then I get a good 6 hours of sleep, and I wake up great.
Your body can communicate to your brain that it is tired even when it isn't. No matter how much physical effort you have put in during the day, if you move around slowly and try to use as little effort as possible in doing things before you go to bed, your brain will be "told" that the body is tired and start producing the right chemicals to help you sleep.
Sunset-like lighting and no noise are also helpful.
