Give time for your muscles to relax. + You should eat a little after your workout.

    I do
    Sunday: Chest/biceps
    Monday: Back/obliques/forearms
    Tuesday: Shoulders/Traps/Triceps
    Wednesday: Legs/forearms
    Thursday: Break
I go back to the gym on Friday and do it all over again. I don't life high weights though. I go for 4 sets 12 reps at least. And I do lots of excersizes for each muscle.

Breathing is good... I like to yell really really loud when I hit something. It adds tons of power to my strikes.

What do you think builds more power, hitting a heavy bag or lifting weights?

Weight lifting seems to be the obvious answer, but if you think about it lifting won't help you actually punch. Hitting something seems more logical to help you punch than actually acquiring power.

I think the combined velocity of a well timed strike with the forward momentum of the target is the best way to deliver your power. I think it matters less how strong or fast you are than how well you time your attack. Being able to deliver a precise blow on a moving target takes good timing, proper mechanics and accuracy...

What will develop those attributes? Judging proper distances to strike from?

How will a heavy bag teach you to evade an attack or counter attack?

As Pendekar de Thouars says "Strength is garbage. Speed is garbage. Timing
          is everything."

No, but I'm not disagreeing with that. However, if you have a kid who can't bench 10 pounds, how will he punch?

Although, I do not think weights are everything, and there's a reason for that. I'm 140 pounds and can max at 180, but I hit A LOT harder than most people in my dojo, who bench 300+ pounds (some of them can).

My point was that if I wanted to increase my power what should I do?

And obviously not hitting a bag won't teach you fighting skills, and neigher will lifting weights. This is why jocks can't fight.

It just sucks for me because I can't lift half of what these other guys can, and they think I'm weak. I don't really care what other people think of me, but it almost seems to give martial arts a bad name (around where I go to school). Little do they know martial arts is a way of life, and if they'd get in a fight with a MAist they'd know the true meaning.

"i am a jock, could probly kick ur ass"

                Typical. Define jock again?

And it all goes down to doing what it takes to win. I do some kempo and lots of ninjutsu, so fighting is different.

When most people fight (that I've seen) everything is arms. Arms arms arms. Sock em in the face and stomach to win because that's the normal way to fight.

                Wrong.

No matter how strong you are I'll kick you in the fucken knee and break it. Wrestle that.

And I know it's an internet forum, so I'm not trying to act tough or deny your strength either. I was just curious on which method built up power more.

My point was that jocks think they own everyone. Isn't the method of martial arts not to underestimate your opponent?

                    Have you observed me?

There you go! That's the only thing I saw missing was attitude! "Help me out here guys, my muscles are puny, I'm little and weak, I want to be fast and strong like the martial artists"...

Kansetsu geri is mean and nasty, keep thinking like that because your intent is 9/10ths of the art.

**** you dick bag. Muscles have nothing to do with fighting ability. I could be the greatest martial artist on the planet skill wise for all you know, but desire more power. Does that mean I'm a midget with tiny arms, simply because I crave to get better?

Shows your true martial art spirit. Aren't we all supposed to be nice to each other? Believe me, I don't need yours or anyone's niceness, because quite personally I don't give a **** about what other people think.

Why don't you take your tough guy attitude to the city, maybe mess with some niggers.

See how tough you are when the situation comes where you're face to face with a gun.

lifting a lot of weight is not nessecarily the best means to increase "power".
first of all, you really have to define what kind of power exactly you are looking for. are you looking for striking power in your punches and kicks, or perhaps more power in your shots/takedowns. or perhaps you're just looking for more strength in terms of grappling and being able to outmuscle abd control your opponent.
i find that these require different types of strength. and i suggest your lifting resemble the type of strength you want. punches and kicks, i would suggest developing more explosive power. you should lift explosively, lifting fast and exploding upward with each lift.

if youre looking for grappling and just overall brute strength, explosive lifting may not be as important to you.

also, if you find your not tired enough after sets, i suggest increasing the weight. i find that as people increase the amount they lift, the lifts tax the body more and the fast recovery which you described no longer becomes possible. also, i recommend you dont try and lift everyday and overtrain. you might be ok with it at first, but i guarantee you, you will feel the effects of overtraining eventually. its the law of diminishing returns, at a certain point, the more hours you put in doesn't equal the same amount of strength gained. at a certain point you're just destroying your joints and muscles. you're welcome to try whatever you like and see what happens, but i guarantee you there is a reason why people do the things they do.

How funny... Something get under your skin tough guy? I was trying to make a joke... see the smiley face? Try reading it again in your Arnold (Schwarzenegger) voice and see what the hell I'm trying to tell you is exactly what YOU JUST SAID! You want more power? Hit HARDER!

This is a stupid post. Technique without power is wasted, and power without technique is wasted. Darkoata what's your deal? I know plenty of wrestlers who are great fighters. Dont push all wrestlers into your little bag of garbage fighters. Trust me, wrestling is a lot more useful in streetfights than Ninjitsu. Darkoata maybe you should go to sherdog where the other keyboard warriors go. As far as your posts, you have all your answers so you can stop with this bullshit. No one cares how tough you think you are or how you mouth off.

PS A true wrestler will grab your kick and take you down or shoot you before your kick comes.

We can talk about what-if's all day. If you wanna see what ninjutsu can do, buy a video made by masaaki hatsumi.

He is undoubtedly the greatest fighter on the face of the planet.

And what's with the tough guy stuff? Just because I defend myself doesn't mean I'm some jew on the internet looking for fights. And quit with the sarcasm.
