    Is there any correct techniques for breathing when you do pushups?

    I notice I get a shortness of breathe when I climb up to 20 or so pushups but I can knock them out to 30 until I actually need to stop, and take a breather.

    Is this a normal phase? or just something i'm doing wrong?

    Breath out when you push, breath in when you go to the floor.
    Circulation and lung capacity and cardovascular endurance can be a separate issue.

      Cardio seems to be your problem. Or maybe youre holding your breath.

        If you're having trouble developing a rhythm, do them slowly and methodically to build that up.

        That's where most breathing problems come from, IMO.

        If you're just getting winded, you just need more conditioning. If you're just not breathing regularly as you build up to 20/30, that's different. I can do 20-30 holding my breath for example if I pushed it out quick, but it wouldn't help me push out my max.

          Yea I tried the breathe out as you push up, and breathe in as you push down thing, and all I did was loose count of my pushups. I may have to sacrafice a few until I get this down.
