  • Why running will cause injuries and is not good for you.

Running is a bad sport and I know of many injuries of long term runners, short term runners, and a good reason to quit the sport. Injuries, injuries, injuries. An aquaintence of mine has been working on many well known runners, and I know why the only running that is recommended is bearfoot, it is a natural.

Well this is what my gym teacher told me. If you run on concrete floors or any hard surface every single day it will cause you problems in the future; don't ask me why cause I blanked out when he talking. but if you run on something softer like on grass or a dirt road it won't cause you injuries, cause the soft ground is taking the impact and not sending it back towards your feet.

Sorry if it doesn't make sense, cause I blanked out when he was talking so I don't really know the whole sorry.

          Oh yeah, I done dat!

Running on hard surfaces like concrete or asphalt pavement can be harmful to your joints (particularly knees and ankles) if done over a prolonged period of time. Same for some storefront gyms that have glue-down carpeting.

Softer surfaces offer uneven or unpredictable footing which is also bad for the joints.

Most ideal , safest running area I've ever found is a huge sandbar located just off Key Biscayne where the sand is rippled but fairly flat and even and soft, under approx. 8 inches of water. Not very easy to replicate those conditions, but it leads me to think that soft clean sand is the ideal running surface and a running track using that kind of surface can be easily built, like a horse racing track. And yet, look where Olympic runners train and compete...

yea the reason why is suppose to be bad for u is because it wears out ur joints in ur feet or something like that. gravity makes it so that everytime u step u put force on that part. just try jumping really high and stomp down. that force u feel after u stop is what causes ur feet to get injured later on. every time u step, a smaller version of that force is happening and over time, ur just going to get injured unless u like take care of ur feet

.....Walking can injure you over a long time....So can sitting hunched over....martial arts, playing any sports. Anything active can hurt you over time if you don't care of your body right.

Usually the problems are in the ankles or the knees.

Running on a track is IMO a very good middle ground solution. It's also much better for doing speed work/sprints. I don't even want to imagine trying sprints on concrete or asphalt.
