  • Noisy Knees

okay, how many of you ever had noisy knees when you would squat down ? If I were to squat down or try to do the split warm up, My knees would make a 'cracking or snapping' sound. I`m not sure why but does anyone got anything to say ? (well not exactly squating, but if I would just bent down on my knees to take a rest or something)

I want to get rid of this annoying noise

I had a student that had knees that made a lot of noises when they bent. strangest thing I ever heard.

I believe it lead to some medical problems in his knees but it's been a long time ago.

Next time you go to the doctor ask him about it if you are concerned or if you start getting pain.

I have the same thing! everytime I sitdown on my knees I hear them crack but not too loud. I checked with a doctor and he said its normal that my knees were fine its just the joints arent stretched enough and that beacause of it my knee is more likely to suffer injury alhtough its not that much to worry about it will outgrow as long as i stay active. As long as it doenst cause pain at all and I mean like nothign then its fine if it does hoever even slightly then you shoudl def go see a doc. otherwise it will only get worse

My ankles crack too. There's not much to worry about with cracking joints unless you have pain or discomfort associated. The ankles cracking has something to do with tendons. If you're still young you'll probably outgrow it. My knees cracked when I was in high school, but rarely do anymore.

The snapping sound in your knees is from the cartilege on the back side of your kneecap getting rough from wear and tear. When you flex your knees, the roughness grates and makes the snapping sound. Surgery can fix it, until it starts to get rough again. My knees do the same thing, found that out when I tried to find out what would cause it. I'm not going to worry unless they start to hurt.

i think the cracking is simply because the joints are not warmed up enough. Maybe do a few kicks before you squat.

glucosamine and chondroitin should do the trick. It's found in
GLC 2000 it's promoted by both Tito Ortiz and Bas Rutten, if that means anything to you. BUT my friend got some and has been taking it for about a month now and says he can feel the difference in the weight room.(prevoius shoulder injury, and same deal with the cracking knee) It's supposed to lubricate joints amongst other medical miracles I am not informed enough to tell you about. They also have off brands at your local pharmacy or Wal-Mart I'm pretty sure they got one of those every where
