  • # of Reps, in general

What are the rep ranges for lifting weights? Like what is for mass building, whats for strength, whats for muscular endurance, and whats for explosive power?

I think Mass building is around 5-6 reps for an average set.

I think Strength is around 8-10 reps for an average set.

I think muscular endurance is anything higher then 12.

And explosive power, I believe is done by doing maybe 10 reps, but at a quick speed.

Am I right? What does everyone think is good for boxing, or MA in general? The reason I ask is because I wanted to get bigger for the sake of getting bigger. You know, mostly for looks. So my friend who is really into body-building made me a workout plan. And now that I am thinking about getting into boxing, I'm trying to adjust it so my muscle isn't merely "purdy", but functional as well.

From my experience, the best rep range for mass building is 8-12 reps with 30-90 seconds between sets. General strength and strength and power is 6-8 and 4-6 reps at 4-5 minutes between sets.

To develope a lot of explosive power you should incorporate some olympic lifts e.g. power clean, clean and jerk, jump squats while holding dumbbells, etc.
