I work my abs only once a week now, use to do it three times. But I have a day where I train all 'smaller' groups, i.e. Forearms, calves, abs, neck.

I only use a 10kg weight, but I hold it out as high as I can to try and put as much stress on as possible, I dont go to failure, but I get very close. Sometime's I've used a 25kg plate but its very uncomfortable so I don't use it at all now.

If you get to around 8-12% BF you should start seeing your abs, 4-6% and your abs will have very deep cuts, etc. If one were to gradually loose, 1-2lb a week @ 12% BF in about 6 weeks he would have serious striations in he's muscles, and good depth in he's abs.

Hope this gives you some idea, good luck
thanks im at 13 something now

That's pretty healthy, you shouldn't have to much trouble loosing the weight.

Kurt are you holding the disc above your head. That is hard.

Just to pick on body fat. About 12-13 is a healthy body fat level for fighters. This is because you are more immune to bugs and viruses and as fighters come across a lot of cardio training, it is better for our bodies to eat our fat than our muscle.

Yup holding the disk above my head, if my workouts arn't 'hard' I dont see the point.

having anything below 4-6% bf will make strength gains very difficult, aswell as energy levels been lowered - in most people.

When doing cardio, I rather my body not eat at my reserves, rather the energy I've given it before hand. Consuming enough carbs before my workout.

But taking your remark, I presume that your body is eating at your reserves ("fat") from being in a catabolic state. Having a higher BF - around 12-13% - in this case, not an extreme case, and therfore you would lose a significant amount of muscle mass, as this is easier to break down than stored body fat.

It all depends on what your goals are. Deep cut abs - requires low body fat!

I prefer at the moment to keep my BF around 10-14% as I'm looking to gain alot more strength. Having a higher BF level, aids me in attaining this.

Please take note paul, if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

            Peace.
