best way to lose those cramps is to keep exercising while u have them, bear with it its not that bad, and eventually if you don't stop theyll go away and probably wont come back if you run regularly. thats just in my experience.

Actually, I think that continuing exercising with the cramp is the WORST thing to do. Say that you have a horrible calf muscle cramp while running. Do you keep running? No. Get a cramp in your calf, stop running and stop the cramp. After the worst of it is over, massaging the muscle helps.

So the point is, don't make it worse. Your problem may be occuring b/c you're starting out too fast without a proper warm up. If not, all I can say is do not continue with the cramp. Good luck!

Perhaps it's the way that you are jumping; the height at which you jump or the amount of shock your body receives upon impact of the ground. Or perhaps it's the way you are breathing; maybe you are breathing too heavily or too deeply? Even in that case, yes, you may be working yourself too hard. Even still, I agree that still hopping up and down during a cramp probably isn't the best idea.
Perhaps you just need more time to get in shape again...so, take it slow at first and if your body is in serious pain, then in my mind I would picture this tiny little muscle down in my chest yelling at the top of it's lungs, " Oh God! It hurts! Ouch! Ouch! Ah! Stop! STOP! "... Am I the only one that hears their body parts talking to them?

Yeah, I used to get that from jump roping also, and I didn’t get it from running either. I heard it was the build up of acid in your system or something. Either way, you can do a search on the internet for the reason, but it isn’t anything serious from what I know (if it doesn’t go away after a while it may actually be serious) and quite common for people whose bodies aren’t used to the exercising. In fact, if you’ve ever seen the first Rocky film, Balboa gets the same pain the first time he starts running, and you can tell by him grabbing his right side. Whenever I got that I’d just push on my side, the place where you feel the sharp pain and it should ease the pain a bit.

Anyway, I just kept jump roping regularly and when the pain started up I’d stop till it went away. After a keeping this up for a week or so the pain just never returned, presumably because I became fitter then before.
