i think their different in the fact that the hand is positioned differently. one is where you can see your fingers and the other is where you can see the back of your hand. and i tihnk it does work different muscles or it should at least.

      Difference

Some people refer to Pull-Ups as an all inclusive meaning hands facing and facing away. But a lot of times it means just hands facing away. They are much harder then chin-ups.

Chin-Up is when your palms are facing you, and are easier.

I believe they both work the same muscles, but not to the same degree. Chin-ups probably hit your biceps more and Pull-Ups get your lats more. The wider the grip, the more back you get into the excersize to. Anyone here feel free to correct me.

          wrong.

when your fingers face you, you'r working biceps, and back. When your back hand is facing you, your working your forearms, biceps, and back.

by the way your lats are part of your back, as you've put them down as two seperate things. And pull ups or chin ups do not work your triceps. Triceps are used when a force is applied while extending your arm from the elbow.

don't u use triceps when u are lowering after it kos rather then dropping u are extending slowly? or is that solely done by biceps relaxing?

no because you are lowering yourself, the force has not switched sides and started applying pressure to your triceps, its still on your biceps. It's the same movement that you did when you pulled yourself up, only in reverse.

Many people get confused for some reason. Just take a second to think about it, or even better, go and try a one handed pull up (cheat if needed) and use your free arm to feel the tension on your arm, see which muscles are working...

              laters.
