This guy I went to school with showed me how to make a chi ball when I was 13. I never did any preparation for it, but after a few trys I felt a sensation of pressure. Since then I've been messing around with bringing sensation to my hands. When the guy showed me the ball thing he told me to wave my hand between his two. I felt a prickly feeling in my fingers. Since then I've replecated the effect for a few friends, and they felt it to. So yea I did that posture along with the visualization and the hand placement. It's preaty damn invigorating. Is that a good way to exercise building up and increasing my energy? Alright what I mean is, can I increase the energy I feel?Does it come from me or do I draw it in from around me? Like that air might be the fuel for the power. Also, are there any other things I can do with chi other than heal myself?

ya that's exactly right...um...it's very hard to increase the chi u have...some people are only born with just enough and other a whole bunch...but teh energy u were feeling was ur own..and it was what u have..but after a long time of practice u will develop more..it takes yrs though....and u can heal...it is said that some masters..when escaping from the chinese armny would go out into the snoqw..and was use his chi to make him lighter...that wasy there would be no footprints in the snow for enemy guards to follow...and the creator of aikdio(japanese) was said to have used his ki in sucha way that if he wanted to that when he used his speed....he was so fast that he left an after-image of himself behind...it was like he was transporting himself from one place to another....they say they have old video on this and i have spent months looking but have never found it...but whether r not it's tru( i think it is) he was still the only fighter i can compare to bruce lee in terms of speed

A different angle
When I started training my ki, I was very fortunate to be of an age where reality was a transient factor in my perception. I have been actively involved in honing this aspect of the arts, and may lend you this humble, and hopefully useful info. Ki has to have a fountainhead in the body from which it flows. This is your central area of sensitivity, which doubles as a warning for any external forces that might prove harmful. To focus the ki you feel, let it sit in this area of tightness, but instead of letting tension be prevalent in that spot, let the ki stir in small circles. Breathing should be measured, and, when you feel a circular flow within your abdomen, begin to play with that energy like a child with a ball.. I really can't get into the semantics of it all, but make sure to have a solid base of sensitivity in areas of your body that are predisposed to energy. Think about it like this: To be able to be heard, one must first listen.. The output comes later.
Hope that helped somewhat

Could you perhaps tell me more about the neccecity for this "fountainhead" of energy. I have always read that concentrating power to the head and heart can be fatal. Is this true? About the need to keep sensitivity high in these areas; I've always been nervouse about sensing my heart and brain in fear of disturbing somthing that is natuarly regualated by my brain. As a result I have been skittish about raising maximun energy and sensitivity in the main areas I feel them.
I can also manifest another feeling that is more like a deep calm without any energy feeling. This is a different sensation that im not sure I can put into words(its probably irrelevant actually). I use it to turn off the feeling if I have trouble turning it off. I'm sorry for rambling. I've never talked to anyone really about this mutch less read anything that anyone wrote that I could immediently relate to my situation. I'll post again after I meditate on what you wrote for a while. I have'nt digested it to the fullest. I just got a rush of insperation reading your post an had to reply.

Well I don't consider myself much, since I am self-taught in what I do. I basically train with a Bo, a couple of Escrima Sticks, and a Rapier. My best weapon is the Bo, it's aluminum and 5' (and it's blue, hehe). The Escrima Sticks are wood and about 3' long, but I usually only use one and practice getting fast with it. I'm not as good with the Rapier, but I can spin around with it and perform a couple of tricks that look impressive (so says people I know) and have taken a while to learn them. When I first started training with the Bo I felt tension when spinning it above my head and also performing some other specific spins, and I wanted to get rid of that. I started meditation and using any means to better the focus. I've even used video games while I'm thinking to help reduce nervousness, and it has worked well as far as I feel. But again I am self-taught, so I only know what I've been doing. After training and meditating some more I'm going to try and find a school(s) to get instructed and become better. One thing that is certain: if faced with a problem I think I can deal with it for the most part. If by chance someone in the street decides to fire a gun at me I will probably hide behind something and find a way for him to get closer to me, or myself to get closer to him. Once I can do that, I can use my Bo's long reach to strike the gun out of the person's hand, or use my Rapier to knock it out with a swift stroke. It's legal to carry these things where I live. I have been questioned by police at occasions, but after explaining my motives and reasons they understood. When I go out I usually take the Bo with me and leave the Rapier in the car (with the doors locked of course). I hide it so people can't see it and break the windows. The best part is that the meditation provides a base for your actions and reactions. It's more important than training with physical weapon. I find vocabulary to be second best, especially in conjunction with the mind. I'm going to start searching for a school or two, one for the Bo and one for the Rapier. Of course if I can find one that deals with both I'd be even happier, but it's hard finding places like that around where I live, so for the most part I'm by myself. I've been doing stretching and such as well. Even though I've been doing this for years I'm sure the schools have much more to teach that I don't know, so I'll definitely be looking into at least one of those.

I know exactly what the topic is about. I just explained some other things that are affected by the results of meditation. This is how I raise energy. I don't know how to build up the type of energy you speak of, but I do practice breathing techniques and use the flexibility to perform better. By the way if I recall correctly this topic also pertains to focus, am I in the right? That being the case I case you can associate my weapon training being more focused after the meditation.

Adept means highly skilled; you are in the right. I did not mean adapt. I don't think myself to be that way, I use the term Adept for a mental thing (theory I guess you could say) that involves too much to say, so I'll not start. However, I can say one of the biggest parts of being Adept is learning how to see things that others cannot, but in a different manner. This manner is similar in ways to how people meditate and reflect on things, but for the most part it is very different. And it does help people to adapt to things as well. I don't know about the snow thing because I haven't involved myself in any of that, but I wouldn't rule out the possibilities.

Can you post a reply Ikiro? I'm preaty confused about concentrating energy and sensitivity in the head and chest. I've been doing it though and have'nt had any problems with it. It's just I've heard elsewhere to "never" do it. I hope you check the forums often. Thanks for the good info about the relaxing the tension and letting the feeling stir in small circles. I had experienced the spinning circle by my hips before as well. That I know to wait for that before any further practice has really helped too. When meditating an playing with sensations before I got a great mental image of a flourescent circle in my waist acompanied by a substantial sensation. That happned a couple times but not again since. Thanks, please reply.

-i get those feelings in my stomach and chest all the time
-i think of it as nervousness, adrenaline, excitment, and my extremly fast metabolism working hand in hand
-when i get going though after having this feeling everything in my opinion gets hightened
-like for exapmle when i lost to a extremly well versed wrestler on the street
-for me it was a bad match up but what i did notice was that i was 2X faster, and even when he had in a no gaurd postion twice on the ground he could no execute a proper ground and pound and thus kept hitting the pavement because i kept duking out, and getting under his range, and his knuckles were FUCKED for 2 months
-i got out of the fight with a minor cut on my face
-but the point was that because of the extra boost of speed from this feeling i was able to sustaine less injury then my opponent but i still lost
-the guy out weighed me by 40 pounds, but he only landed 12 out of his 30 punches thrown, and i landed 7 out of my 13 according to my buddy
-i believe that if you can "harness" this "energy" you can go farther
-this is my personnel opinion by the way
-and btw this guy still doesn't want to fight me

When it comes to feeling chi, I've figured out you can't force it. When I do QiGong exercises, I can actually feel it in my hands moving them to and from eachother. It's really cool.
Just some info.
