im sorry for interrupting but this is the way i see it:
Ali is the greatest fighter in existance to me, he is my hero. and it is by that nature and by the fact that he was the greatest fighter of all time, that i say he would whoop the bajesus out of lee.
I do however think that lee could prolong the match due to his speed and small size, and if the very slight chance that he could continue to evade ali, he could get some very key shots in. but one hit from ali and lee would go down like he swallowed a lead brick.
i hope i havent pissed anybody off.

Yeah, because Ali would just stand there after he punched, lock his arm out while in the horse stance....no his hands wouldn't be up or anything, he didn't have good footwork or longer legs than BruceOriginally posted by sherwinc
If anything, Lee's low kicks would confuse Ali at first. Don't forget Ali had high pain tolerance (fought with a broken jaw in the Foreman bout and still won, got gloved in the eye with the thumb). He might take a few stunning low kicks, then figure out Lee's timing and hit him over the top with a right.
If he was able to get inside and take Ali down (remember now Bruce was a so-so grappler and a welterweight, while Ali was a heavyweight), he would have a chance.
Bruce's theory of JKD was not to fight a boxer with boxing, rather use kicking and grappling which justifies the above. Ali was heavier than Bruce and had a longer reach; any kicking advancement would be met by Ali's defensive footwork (after eating a few hard kicks).

You guys are morons, Big people always destroy little people given that they both are equally skilled in a SPECIFIC area. It's been proven so, so many times that this topic is like kicking a dead horse.
Now I think the likes of Cro Cop can take on the likes of Sapp, but @ less than 150 lbs, Bruce Lee wasn't just a small guy, he was an asian midget.
Everyone knows Bruce Lee was incredibly strong for his size, no doubt, but I SERIOUSLY doubt he could hit as hard as heavyweight boxers. In a slugfest, there's no doubt Ali would outdo Lee. Remember folks we are talking about BOXING. I can see just Ali clinching Lee and totally destroying Lee's stamina period. And we're talking about "The Greatest". There's no way Lee can keep on avoiding Ali's punches.
I'm surprised I haven't seen any Ross-boxing'esque analyses from the boxing faithful yet...are their any on this board?Comment

how is bruce going to blind him with boxing gloves on? everyone deifies bruce lee, he was bad I'll give you that, but under full boxing rules, and bruce lee adhering to those rules, there is no way in hell he could beat ali, have you ever seen bruce lee's punching he could not box worth shit. Everyone was so damn amazed at his speed they never actually looked at how he threw the punch. He was fast, he was acurate, but against a seasoned boxing professional who did it for a living he would simply get his ass handed to him.Comment

bruce lee, however fast and accurate, wouldnt be able to "destroy ali's adams apple in one kick". hes just not fast enough. Ali was the greatest for a reason. dont you think with all the publicity bruce lee got, if there was even a chance that he was as fast or as good as ali, then they, being friends would have resolved it?

"who would win in a street fight" it was "who would win in boxing"
