  • Anyone a Veggie(diet)?

Im also a vegetarian, and before anyone says what a fruit i am for it you come see me and well talk. Im curious if their are any other vegetarians here that have tips on getting enough protien intake for this kind of activity and thier reccomendations.

Protein shakes: one before breakfast and one in between each of three meals per day.

2 scoops of protein = 40 grams protein
    Skim Milk = 10 grams

Just with that you can take in an extra 200 grams of protein per day. That, depending on your activity level, may make the difference between metabolizing your own muscle to get the energy for workouts and building muscle.

You can also put other things in it: I like strawberries and bannana (need the potassium). Some people put yogurt and/or raw eggs. I tried that for a while, but the raw eggs gave me farts so bad that my wife refused to sleep with me.

        veggie

whey isint bad but its a buy prod of cheese so the % of fat that is in it isent really good bodybuilders use this to help with proten &weight gain.

my advice is to have a blood test to see what levels you do have if any are low then fix thoese ones . also try irodology some of the people that do it are exelent with what they find .
other wise eat well drink lots of water stay healthy [mushrooms]
do you use dairy or no .?

        thanx for your time................dan

Like he said, whey is a byproduct of cheese, and as far as I know cottage cheese is the best natural source of whey. Don't be so worried about the fat, keep a close eye on your diet to make sure you don't get alot elsewhere and you'll be ok
If you are already on a good diet then a little won't hurt ya. Keep a close eye on your caloric intake. Too much will gain weight, too little will lose it. Body builders work in cycles. First they bulk, where they eat over there daily limit in order to gain muscle, then they cut, where they diet down and trim off the fat.

One more thing. In most cases, we're talking about increasing your daily protein intake from 70 to 100 grams per day to something like 250 to 300 grams per day of good quality protein. Unless you are an olympic class strength athelete there is no reason why you should need to take in more than 350 grams of protein per day.

Too much protein can be harmful. Case in point, there was a medical journal article about a body builder who used liver pills to take in an astonishingly high amount of protein. This guy popped handfuls of liver pills to take in a whopping 3000 grams of protein per day. After six months he suffered liver failure, went into a coma and died. Um, don't do that.

Too much of anything will kill you. It's inevitable. Taking protein supplementation can be very benificial though. I myself do not at this time take protein powder, I just make sure to take in some higher protein foods.
Taking some protein supplementation could be helpful for a veggie diet. I'd take a count of your daily intakes of everything and evaluate it from there.

I would contend that 250 to 300 grams is not necessary for everyone. 1.5 - 2.5 g protein / kg bodyweight is a range that should work for most athletes. I only count eggs, milk, meat, fish, beans and rice, whey, soy, and nuts toward that number. With veggies and grains added in, it would be slightly higher.

What usually happens when someone is looking to eat more protein is that they end up neglecting everything else in their meals. A vegetarian would need to be more conscious about their protein intake than an omnivore. Most people just need to eat more in general to build muscle, since Americans have a pretty meaty diet. That's assuming it's a sensible meaty diet.

There are few reasons to avoid excessive protein, but unless you have existing kidney problems, the main thing to watch is the source of the protein. I emphasize fish, not meat, to keep the bad fats down.

Good hydration and ample calcium will reduce the effects of excess protein. You are most likely to lose calcium if protein powders are included in this excess. Yet another reason to drink your milk.

Gas aside, beans and rice should hit the spot.

I'm a vegetarian too. I once decided to keep a journal of an average day. I found out I barely take in 70 grams of protien per day. So, I started eating protien bars. Then I began eating bagels with peanut butter. And I just got some protien powder. I weight 160 pounds, and I usually can get in about 150 to 180 grams of protien a day. That's pretty good, I think. And don't talk me into eating meat. That shit if filthy and disgusting. But, eating meat had lower amounts of carbs. Be careful with thsoe carbs, bro. Those can make you fat. Just do a lot of cardio. 4 days a week should be good.

humans never worked their way up to the food chain, nor did any other species. You were born into the human species. But at least we're lucky to have more than instincts, though sometimes I wish I had a little bit more instincts. We're sentient, we can at least make a decision wether or not we want harm others.
