Well being sorta big 6'5", I know that kicking me in the balls will just piss me off. Someone did it to me once and I broke their nose and knee'd them in the sternum causeing them to quit the fight (it was supposed to be friendly but the guy got viscious and cocky so when he kicked me I went psycho). It was kinda like what bodhisattva said about I didnt feel it until the adrenaline was down, and by then the fight was obviously over. In other words, don't kick a big guy in the nuts. It just pisses us off. What I would reccomend because of what I see as my personal weakness is in the sternum. A punch usually doesn't phase me to much but a nice strong kick works really well. Big guys dont go down as fast in the real world.
It doesnt matter how big your opponent or how pain teolerant there are. If you learn how to strike well to the throaught or temple you can do enough damage to kill your opponent or take him out no matter how big they are. If they cant breath because you break their windpipe or pheonix knuckle the temple really fast and hard and then palmstrike it right away which makes blood vessels pop in your temple and cause serous damage. Bil Jee is espesially usefull for developing powerfull strikes with the fingers, especially with iron palm training which strengthens all the bones in your hand.

I agree. But if you dont train against bigger opponets, how can one feel sure that such tactics will work?
You have to train with different kinds of partners, that's the point.
I've sparred against professional fighters with alot of fights whom pretty much toy with me, but I work at landing against faster and evasive opponents, likewise I've sparred against fellows with about the same experience as me, but 50 lbs on the heavier side and in this case you're testing your defense, infighting and heart against the bigger guy.
Again, the goal is not to knock each other out or injure each other at practice, because you won't last long if you do that all the time.
The point is to work in real time, with spontaneity and to build your ability to land with a little authority now and then, use your defense to handle fight pressure. No one's invincible, but this is probably the only legal and safe way to learn empty-hand self defense.
When you're not sparring, you're banging the crap out of the thai pads, working on defense with a parnter/coach, pounding the focus mitts and enhancing your athleticism. If you wrestle or do submissions, its the same thing...live drills.
And believe me, the non-sparring prep work works. You get a coach who pushes you and says that if any of your punches don't make a cracking noise when fired into the mitts, you have to do 20 push ups and continue where you left off....

However, if one cannot tolerate pain or take a hit, then all the training in the world wont help
I know. I've worked out with many, but most of those fellows don't get into a lot of fights, because they have nothing to prove, are pretty secure and morally strong. There only achilles tendon may be drinking problem or temper issues. But again, most big fellas who I've met who train in MA are true gentlemen through and through.

That's one of the first barriers and I agree. A small change in mindset can make a big difference in a person's ability to take a hit.
I used to crumble from well delivered body shots. I've broken barriers in that area hard way....
