Picture one of those mexican guys who let bulls charge at them. Its basically the same concept.
William Cheung's wing chun footwork is very basic and is found in many other styles.

That works once in a while, but people are not bulls and do not keep going in a streight line they can change their energy sideways and uproot you if you use too much footwork.

What about the famous Wing Chun "About Turn" footwork?

Yes. It's where you prattle on about what an absolute perfect art that Cheung Wing Chun is. And then do a total "about turn" to suddenly slag him off.

                Aboooouuuuut TURN!

Thai Bri, perhaps you haven't seen the real stuff. You should watch "Leung Ting's Dynamic Wing Tsun" to experience it. That way you can learn real fighting... I have it if you want it.

(The filename is Leung Ting's - Dynamic Wing Tsun - LOOOOOL.mpg, I added the lol in the filename after seeing it).

Why do so many wing chung-ers sound like cultists?

They are only students, not master like Leung Ting himself! Of course they will not be able to look like the Eiffel tower when they fight, as good as the master can, so they don't get as much linkage effect between their knees!
                        This video is the best.

I trained Leung Tings system of WT for 7 1/2 yrs and when I finally left because my instrucor abused his position of power - I saw it for what it was, I felt id left a cult.
I now train REAL wing chun and its so different to be training with people who dont act with a superior nature and treat you any different regardless of your skill in martial arts because we are all there to learn!
WT is good for theory of "wing chun" but nowdays theory dosenty go with "street fighting" I should know I couldnt defend myself with my WT against my wing chun training partners they practically squashed me - but now I have power (NOT brute strength) and im learning all over again how to defend myself and fight properly - I now have more power and speed then I could have ever imagined, I am only a small woman in comparison to big muscley guy, yet now I am beginning to be able to defend myself against bit strong guys, whereas in WT it was very very light contact and i hate to think what would have happened had i come across an agressor on the street and treidn to defend myself with the WT form of self defence.

Joining Wing Chun was a big wake up call for me and it really woke me up to the fact that yes WT is all well and good but when it comes down to the street forget it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Little Dim One, but you are yet ANOTHER example of someone desperately trying to follow Wuing Chun. So much so that you find out that one style that you praised from the roof tops) is poor, so switch to another.

In another couple of years both you and Tameo will switch again...... When will it end?
