this is a form of training called iron neck hanging i think correct if im wrong, (boarspear probably) part of hard qi gong training,

a perfectly executed kick with excellent form and posture, most likely power too,

various monks performing different things, dont try at home unless trained.

monks are taught to be flexible at a very young age while still supple,

straighten up there juniour on the staff, no bean sprout for you,

this is actually quite difficult to master,

these are just a sample of the monks abilities and training methods, there are plenty more if you are interested in shaolin gung fu,

i personally have found best results in combat, using shaolin training, along with taiji cross training,

i am currently working on my speed and agility, along with great power training, by strapping and tying rocks/wieghts/rings onto various bodyparts, while training, and doing squats and jumps, adding more wieght every time i do it, im now up to quite a formmidible wieght to be jumping around with it on me, i have to say this kind of training has amazing results, my speed has doubled if not increased 3 fold since starting this training, when you take the wieghts off you feel so light as if you could fly with a little more training, i work this into my shaolin training, and taiji training, some of you might want to experiment with this type of training, but always do it with upmost caution, and build up gradually keeping perfect form and posture, if the wieghts make you slouch and you cant right yourself that means you have to many wieghts on, ask for further advise before doing it if you are a begginer to this type of training method.

it seems rather interesting...I might look into it after I get all the essentials down (thai, boxing, bjj, etc)

Anyone Seen "Shaolin wheel of life"? Its pretty good for what it is, the auditions of Folk Masters on the special features blow the wushu performers who got the jobs out of the water. some of those really old dudes looked pretty tough, that wasnt the image the communist wanted to portray of shaolin though

The Masters of China Disc has the best CMA's I have ever seen though.

All I remember from WoL is a bunch of circus acts done in wushu with a bunch of "monks". A buddhist monk has alot of meditation hours to perform plus reading and reciting scripts. Why is it that people in these forums are claiming that they do 8-9 hrs a day of training then, unless that they are not monks or that they are not buddhists?

Actually, thet didnt use to require all that crap, monks didnt start Mandatory instruction in morality until an emperor ordered it...

Also i said the people who performed the show were wushu actors HOWEVER watch the extra materials...there are quite a few very serious looking men at the auditions who werent so pretty to watch moving

What is your beef with the CMA's dude?

i love thier training, and respect the whole spiritual traditional thing very much. However, i wish with thier will power, strenth, flexiility, ect... they would do something more practical, sure shattering bricks and doing 500 back handsprings is a great display, but with thier talents they could really make a mark in PRACTICAL and realistic fighting, including grappling. I guess they spend all that time preserving tradition and keeping the gods happy, and attaining enlightenment, which is nice. However, IMHO, they could really make a dent in EFFECTIVE MARTIAL ART if they wanted to alter thier training. they just have so mucht iemon thier hands, so much skill, such detication, they could really become exelant fighters instead of just imitating the movements of a crane or a "dragon".
