Guest repliedthat sounds good, get someone else to film you, and post it or send me the clip and I can convert it for you and or post it, if you want.

Thanks but that sounds to complicated for me to do. Maybe I'll find someone to do it for me.Originally posted by TigerClaw View PostYou need a video camera that can use a usb cable or a card to attack to the computer and then you drag the video onto the computer and then you need to get a Video converter from the net ,download it and open the program, then open your video clip and convert it to a mpeg format. I think that is how it's done. This is how I do it from my cheap camera.
Or you could find another person with a camera and they could take the video and post it on for you, or they could get the file on your computer and you could send me the file and I could post it for you. It will need to be posted in You tube first or a similar post, then you select the link form you tube and paste it in here. But If you can get the video and send it to me I could convert it and send it back to you, or post it if you like.

Guest repliedI have learned many different aspects of snake style. I learned my first snake kung fu from a Mr Chow many years ago, also there is some snake style kung fu in Hung Gar and I know some Shoalin snake forms. I do not have alot of history on the forms except for those in Hung Gar. Not like Hung Gar, Choy Li Fut, etc. and some of my learning is also private learning, from books, other people , videos etc. Oh and that last part I am sure you will attack me for, but I don't care one bit.Originally posted by Ben Grimm View PostNot really. Guest repliedWhen you see a whip snap, the whip does not have Chi in it, it snaps because of the proper technique in the user. And that techniques starts at the stance and the very first motion and direction of muscular tension. The same principle applies for kung fu techniques as well.
This is why proper technique and stances etc, is very important. But when I watch many MMA fighters this principle is often lacking and they stumble around often and fall off balance etc. Not all of them, but with many of them I see this. And their strikes seem to lack this aspect often.
Someone might try to use a whip and it will not snap, because they use the wrong techniques.
I was showing some of my students how to do a front thrusting kick on the heavy piunching bag one day. I kicked it and it went right up almost to the roof and hit the wood above. Then they tried it and it barely moved. It was not just because of size and physical strength that this happened. It was because of proper technique. The flow of muscle dynamic, or the force from the muscle dynamic starts as soon as I lean forward and push off the ground and as all the positions of the body move in such a way that the kick shoots out with the maximum m power and focused force. This , I believe is all related to the technique and muscular dynamic. Not an inner power or Chi.
By the way i do believe very strongly in inner strength and mystical things, and spiritual reality etc. But I just do not believe in the "Chi power " as it is described by many, or in its mystical aspects. I see it the way I described it.

The snake style of green bamboo viper is one of the five subsets that was taught at the Southern Shaolin Temple. This particular form of snake fist originated in Cambodia and worked it's way up to China. As it was integrated into Shaolin it got more refined and sophisticated. The green bamboo viper is the snake style taught here in the United States by Grandmaster Wing Loc Johnson Ng. There were four other snake styles that were taught at this particular Shaolin temple. They other 4 were water snake, shadow snake, king cobra, and Golden snake. These five type snakes make up the southern snake style system. Snake style kung fu is considered to be a highly advanced form of fighting due to the use of internal energy (chi) and the speacialized breathing techniques.
But wait you just believe in using muscle without Qi....

Guest repliedI see things differently here. I think when the strike hits the person, it is again like a whip. If I just throw my arm at a person with the whip it will not hit him direct and focused. But if you have all the body mechanics right the end of the whip will crack and strike with such force that it breaks the sound barrier. this is similar with proper focused techniques. If a person just strike another, that will cause some harm, but if the body mechanics are exactly right and the muscle flow is focused to cause the greatest amount of force at the finger tips, then the whole body works right to create the whip effect and the strike is much more dangerous. But I do not see it as an internal mystical thing at all.Originally posted by JadeDragon View PostMy thought on chi is this......Chi is an internal energy that every person has. Some people have more than others and some people can control it better than others. I believe that if you learn how to channel this chi or internal energy you can focus it into your strikes. I have literally seen the result of a strike where chi was channeled into the strike. One of my instructors who does snake style did a snake hand strike with his finger tips to a student to demonstarte this and left a wierd looking bruise on the guy. It was a bruise the size of a half dollar but in the middle of the bruise was white where his finger had struck and it left him in severe pain. My istructor then hit him with the same strike but without the vibration and chi and it didn't do hardly anything. It caused some pain but not like the first strike did. The second strike didn't even leave a bruise. I believe that if you can learn to cultivate and channel your chi then you can do a lot more damage. I'm not saying that its like the death touch because I don't believe that crap. I'm just saying that you can cause more damage if you know how to use your chi in conjunction with your strikes.
It depends on the proper muscular dynamic and flow of tension through the body, with proper technique and stances etc.
